Maybe I read from the wrong source, but these seem to be good for about 10-20 uses, then game over. Maybe I'm wrong. Because there are cheaper ways.

You can get a 1000 Wh unit from Grecell for $650 (CAD). Four of those would do the job of one Mango unit (rated at 3500 Wh) at less than half the price. Not as convenient, but not a bad choice for folks on a tighter budget.

Darned misleading title. A battery system alone is useless without some means of charging it.

Current US prices $4250, in my currency AUD, is $6,599.43.

😂😂
That's a pretty big investment.
I'd save a substantial amount building my own.

I just put a 50A braker and a front panel that has a safety slide and a ginerator plug, with a 5000w ginerator for less than a 1000 dollars.😮😮😂😂😂😂😂

why dont you set up a heater element in a glass canopy to melt the snow on your solar panels? It takes very little power - can almost run it off a 12V battery

I kinda wonder if at some point people start digging pits in their yard, Lining it with insulation, filling it with sand and using resistive heating to heat it super hot and then running a fluid through it to boil to run a generator for when you want to get power out. I’m just saying. BTW, if you have solar and a battery in California, they don’t let you charge your battery from the grid…or at least they didn’t 5 years ago. /shrug

never charge from the grid when solar is avail. otherwise you lose half power and pay double.
solar 1KWH = battery 1KWH and grid 2x KWH = 1 KWH

What are you going to do after those couple hours when your battery runs out. You gotta have something to recharge those batteries. You need both solar panels and battery for grid down situations.

My electric bill more that double. Teco pass the expense to their customers going green . My bill has more then doubled in the last three months.
Knowing I live in Florida, and we rely on AC. It’s the bulk of the cost so I built an energy efficient home. Solar companies charging $70-$80,000. Just for solar. Tampa Electric, it’s just paying pennies for excess power generated to the grit, its not cost-effective . I know I can buy solar panels for half the price they’re selling and a certified electrician to install. The problem Teco has a few vendors that there are excepting. so these solar companies can charge whatever they want. They got the market cornered. Very frustrating . Florida sun / weather’s. Need to store power in the day for night use. Less energy is used at night but they charge more per kilowatts? Any suggestion would be helpful. Thank you.

So how do you tie this into the electrical panel of your home? You have them plugged into the wall to keep them charged, when the power goes out how is the connection made to power your home? If that is easy to do then I am interested.

See if I installed a solar system I would make sure that if the power went down I would have someone come in and put in a switch so I can shut off my access to the power company taking the power and keep my home going somehow

Build your own, I've just built a 4kw system, 500amph lithium , total cost about $2500 Australian, probably $1800 USD , another 800w solar to power my hot water system, the prices you're quoting on these are just silly money.

MY Main Concern is what happens IF there's a Massive EMP Attack on the United States. The Grid won't be down a Day; Week; or Month. It will be down for YEARS. The F.B.I. conducted a study and stated after 1 YEAR with No Electricity; 90 - 95 % of the entire population of the United States would be Dead. THAT is a scary thought.

How many times in average does an average grid go down at any time? If it is conclusively negligible (yes, it is annoying not to have power) compared to the up times then is it worth buying an expensive off-grid backup system? Maybe, instead of an "off-grid" make it a "expensive-electric-charges-time-of-day grid backup system" where in you build a backup battery system capable of powering yourself without using the grid, when the grid electric charges are very expensive or down. This way you are saving on the electric (sur)charges and ready for add-on solar or generator charging when additional investment is ready so that you can become completely off-grid, after you save all the money. And what's wrong with off-grid systems? The problem is these components are still very expensive and not worth waiting for a 25 year return on investment. (You would rather put your money on a CD account).

LDS isn't stupid ! Get your screw driver out ! 200 watts is 200 bucks, Lithium Ion battery's are 275 100ah. Put one 200 watt solar panel up for each 100ah lithium battery ! Use a MPPT controller and a 2,000 watt inverter and build system ! 4 panels, 4 batteries ! Do the math ! 2,000 watt inverter 130 bucks. Charge controllers are under 100 bucks ! Build it as you go ! 4 panel 1,000 bucks, 4 lithium battery's 1,200 bucks ! No secrets here ! Pick your solar company well ! Rich Solar is a good one !

We don't need such a system because we rarely have a power outage and when it does it's only for a few hours at the most. That is because we have an underground electricity grid here in the Netherlands. The purchase of solar panels is not recommended in this video, but in our country we have currently earned back the investment in a few years. Batteries are not required.
