I had the single when I was a kid. It was on a yellow label called Tuff Records. The B side was an instrumental of the same song. Loved it, but had no idea what it was about. I read a strange analysis of it somewhere that suggested it was actually a song about a woman spurning her man to be around lesbians, LOL! I am skeptical of that but it was an interesting take on the song. Gotta love mysterious tracks like this!
ОтветитьGood song
ОтветитьHow do you guys (and girls) know so many of the couples dancing? Were they interviewed by Dick or what? I find it fascinating so many posters know their names from almost 60 years now!
ОтветитьLike this song
ОтветитьOh to be back in those days.. that was about twenty years before me, but I would have loved to have been there
ОтветитьOMG !! An Old School Timeless Classic !!
Ответить😎👍🏴☠
ОтветитьDumb lyrics but the groove worked for the dancing
All about the groove.
Hence "Groovy"
I was 13 when Sally Go Round the Roses hit the charts and it BLEW ME AWAY. It has no equal and should have its own genre. But nothing will ever be cool enough to be it its genre so it has to be its own ,which is awesome.
ОтветитьWho is Bruce Dancing with ,out isn't Barbara.
ОтветитьJust one word: Fantastic !!!!
ОтветитьIt appears that some of the dancers were engaged in VERY important conversations. And then there is the brother and sister couple with the sister getting bumped till she is black and blue. It also appears there is a competition to get in front of the camera ... My favorite is the neatly coifed couple who looked like they practiced their moves in the Living Room recently.
ОтветитьOne rumor has long since been put to rest. Buddy Miles did not play drums on this
ОтветитьWhy was Bruce dancing with Barbara and another girl,.
Ответить"Sally Go Round The Roses" was MILES ahead of its time. Haunting beauty and reverb vocals. You might call it the first Psychecedelic Song. Grace Slick's "Great Society" recorded a cool version before she moved onto "Jefferson Airplane". For my money, the Jaynetts' version was the definitive recording. It was 3 years before American Rock caught up to this Spooky offering.
ОтветитьThat was a Great song. 63 Was a year of change ; when this song came out the the Beatles and the Mersey beat were already hugely popular overseas
ОтветитьGreat video! Doesn’t seem right when Barbara and Bruce are not dancing together!
ОтветитьA girl us wearing a back buttoned outfit with an unbuttoned button,
ОтветитьGOD I LOVE THIS SONG !!!
ОтветитьI love everything about this video! It brings back so many memories.
ОтветитьBruce Richard he was a good dancer..he could get down an with it if he wanted .I say a few of them could live the Philly days on AB
ОтветитьDude! These dancers are the most awkward, creepy people I've ever seen!
ОтветитьSolid bass riff just grabs you! Reminds me of my mom dancing to this record
ОтветитьWho decides the order?
ОтветитьTake me back that tine, please. I love seeing all the guys in suits, and the girls in nice dresses. People actually cared about their appearances.
ОтветитьRock and roll was somewhat new. TV was somewhat new. Not like they had a lot of room. All seem self conscious. Hell woman we’re still being judged on skirt heights. Imagine if they accidentally touched the devils areas.
ОтветитьWatching closely each couple is fascinating and sometimes hilarious. Some guys literally shake their female partners :)
ОтветитьWow, me & my cat enjoyed watching & listening to this video & it always keeps my cat's ears up like an owl 🦉LOL. One of my favorite oldies but goodies songs. Awesome! ❤️👍✌️🦉.
ОтветитьThis song clip played in the Sean Penn movie Colors in the scene with Maria Conchita Alonzo and Sean were in the car on a date.
ОтветитьWhat kind of dance was that? Bumping into each other look uncomfortable for them! Lol 😂 🕺💃🏻👯👫🕺💃🏻👯👫🕺💃🏻👯🕺
ОтветитьThis was popular in my day. Especially when I said I DO with my right hand in the air at the US Navy sign up at New Orleans and then after 3yrs 9 months and 20 some odd days I got out the day before I was 21 all in one piece during the middle of the Viet Nam war an still alive at 75 and still kicking. I wonder how many of these guys who were drafted came back like I was so lucky to do?
ОтветитьAl ver este video me hizo recordar mi adolescencia, que tiempos maravillosos.
ОтветитьSimply put: your work is sensational. Congratulations. I have been monitoring your videos because I am studying the music of the 60s and the change that the Beatles gave to the record industry in America was total. and that includes the fashion of the new beat rhythm, the wardrobe and the long hair ... Thanks for your contributions.
Ответить63 was a great year then Wow nice to see that time again . .and things was good then not like today. No lye
ОтветитьJustine (Baby) Washington sung with this group.
ОтветитьGreat one, I've always wondered what it would like if the kids danced to this in a late 60s setting like the Davy Jones dance (daydream believer). i think I would like it!
ОтветитьHow much money did Clark make pushing these records?????????????????????????????????????
ОтветитьHow incredible different they and their clothes looked from 1968 or so; only 5 years, but a complete different world.
I was born in the mid of '63. I am forever happy I spent my childhood still on the good side. The world went so bad after ca. 1972.
Man.. Was all of 11 years back in 63.. Might sound morbid but wondering how Many of these Folks still around in 2021..
ОтветитьMakes me think of the Allen Park chatterbox in the 60s in Allen Park Michigan
Ответитьmy favorite in '63..14 year old freshman
ОтветитьI love this recording because the organ was in it. Thanks to ABS!
ОтветитьDoes anyone know where or anything about Ayliene Silverman??
ОтветитьI have been watching some of the " Happy Days " episodes from the early 1980s on Me TV. These episodes are set in the early 1960s. Their wardrobe, hair & make-up personnel should have watched this video for reference!
ОтветитьAnd two months later, on a Friday afternoon, America changed forever.
ОтветитьThe year I joined the marines. Big hit.
