Inclusion isn’t charity—it’s what tradition looks like when we make space for everyone.
This Short brings to life a tender moment from A Show of Hands, a picture book inspired by my daughter Kalika’s first Hathe Khori—a Bengali Hindu writing ceremony. Kalika has Rett syndrome, and her hands move on their own. But that didn’t stop her from taking part in this sacred tradition.
Through creativity, care, and family support, she was lovingly centered in the ritual—and in our story.
This is what inclusive tradition looks like.

A Show of Hands is available now on Amazon: https://a.co/d/06WTyi2

Perfect for classrooms, and any family celebrating difference and belonging.
