I had a 1979 fairmount with a 351. Car was crazy fast. I sold it to a guy and he killed himself in it a few weeks later. I still wish I didn’t sell it to him.

Eric you are inspiration and that Fairmont is awesome. I predict you have started and intrest in building rods out of Fox body Fairmonts. I for one have fond memories of a black 4dr with a red interior my mom had and want to do a similar project.
I’m thinking a 4dr like my mom had with a coyote motor and full MM suspension. Instead of going the sleepe route I am thinking some custom cowl hood and going for a real bad ass blacked out look.

Surely that roll cage is going to snap your heads off in a accident with those seats?

Back in 1985, Ford made a factory version of the Fairmont with a big V8. It was a badass sleeper. I got to drive one for a week-- The dealer loaned it to me because one of his idiot guys really bungled some body work on my new Tbird, so they had to re-do it. That was some good customer relations work. I've always had a soft spot for Fairmonts.

What was the dyno on this car at that time? I rode in a 500hp 2004 cobra and it seemed faster than this. 2nd to 3rs it wouldn't catch traction but has street tires. It would spin all the way through third easily and shake the glass at gas stations. It was the only street car i ever saw that rocked side to side sitting still with the cam.
