What we see here is foreign inspired which explains why it's located mostly in Porto. Having recognition and being complicated means it's expensive and mostly to fool tourists. I recommend people trying a Bifana, Prego, even Folar or Açorda instead, 100% portuguese.
Bread from Alentejo, butter with garlic from Açores, cheese from Açores, chouriço of Trás-Os-Montes, a little bit of oregano and put in a traditional oven for about 5 minutes. Now that's a real sandwich.

I love it how most of the people in these kinds of videos weight over 130 kg, and they say it's not too much food for them...I mean...it clearly isn't too much food for them because they eat probably around 10 kg of food a day literally...and no I don't have anything against fat people, it's just funny how in every video there are a few people that weight more than a whale talking about how the food good is and how it's a normal portion of food hahaha (that could feed 4 people for 3 days)

I had this about six times when I was in Porto after I finally learned how to say it. My kids asked me if I was tired of it after about the third one. Nope. I'm not small and it was all I could do to finish that thing Plus batatas. There is also a vegan restaurant in Porto that makes a mean replica.

Don’t overcomplicate things: junky comfort food has a place in every national cuisine. This is an evolution of how our ancestors would store and cure foods decades ago prior to refrigerators becoming common: they’d have cured meats and cheese for the winter, and bread would often go stale quickly so it was better cooked up like this.
