Why do you turn the landing lights on so late?

In the 787 do you keep auto throttle on like Airbus? I heard you do and wanted to check

I noticed that two autopilots were activated during the approach. Why would they do that if they finally land manually ? For safety if one of the two autopilots fail ??

they look like twins, thats maybe the reason while you see so many times both pilots watching staring down the pedestal at the same time. awesome video merci. made this approach so many times when flying the md11 at KLM. It brings back precious moments, much gratitude. i still watch these videos with the same fascination, imagination and love as i was a little boy. it will never die. it has been the best job in the world for me and many others, thanks for keeping the experience alive for retired pilots and all who love aviation. ♥️

Beautiful video. One question, why did they turn on landing lights just before landing and not at 10,000 feet? Does Cairo have different roules?

I’m curious about the learning curve of that FMS interface. Looks so alien to a crusty CRJ driver like myself. Haha. Is it immediately intuitive (like G3000), or does it only become user-friendly after a couple hundred hours of real-world practice (like Honeywell)?? Anyone with the dirt feel free to chime in, I’m genuinely interested…

The amateur Egyptologist in me wishes I was on that flight.😊

Absolutely wonderful colour correction, really brings out the best of Cairo Nightlife

As an Australian peacekeeper with the US taxpayer funded Multi-National Force & Observers (MFO) in 1982-83, I lived in Cairo and often used the old airport. It was always a surreal experience. Underneath the old airport there was a huge storage area for lost items. It was like the warehouse in the movie 'Raiders of the Lost Arc' Things had been there for years. There were washing machines and even a big rocking horse. WTF? At an airport? Yes, living in Cairo at that time was a surreal experience. That said compared to living in aggressive Israel, as I also did, I found Egyptian people to be far more pleasant and friendly. Egyptians really are very nice people.
