ОтветитьSorta reminds me of taking a cruise; just eat & sleep, look at the 'view' and eat more & sleep again. May I ask: How much weight did you guys gain on this cross country trek? 🤔
ОтветитьMichael...Could you explain how you figure the Canadian being non-stop when it stops in Kamloops, Jasper, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, and then complete the trip in Toronto?
ОтветитьWe actually have dome cars in Germany. They were built in the 60es for the Rheingold TEE premium express train. When TEE services were discontinued they were sold to travel operators where they ran on charter trains. 5 were built, 3 are operational with heritage railways, one is preserved as a stationary exhibit in the National Railway Museum, the last one is used stationarily as a restaurant.
Closest you will get in daily operation today is by our Swiss friends, standard single decker cars with windows up into the roof. Fun fact, also some of the Karlsruhe tram-trains have such panoramic cars with windows into the corners of the roof.
Michael...I can't believe that you two are topsy Tervie when you always have a mamosa, beer, or wine in hand. lol 🤣
ОтветитьIt must have been torture with those ancient rail track beds and obsolate railcars.
ОтветитьI have enjoyed most of your guests. Your mom, dad, will etc. But sorry Seb is boring AF

ОтветитьTalk about appalling, 6th-grade rubbish.
ОтветитьOh gosh.... my dream excursion.... Should have done it when I lived there.... anyway, an excuse to return one day. I have the train in miniature, so it will always remind me that the trip is pending.

ОтветитьActually Germany did have dome cars at one point. It was part of a train in the Trans Europe Express. The train was called the Rheingold.
Ответить5 days in a train?! 😮 what do people usually do within those 5 days?!😮

ОтветитьThe Beavertails reminds me of something we have in my home state it's called and elephant ear it's just the same thing as a classic Beavertail
ОтветитьIn Michigan we call your beaver tails “elephant ears”.
ОтветитьGreetings Michael;
My husband and I are planning a trip in December 2026. We are going to be catching The Amtrak Empire Building in Shelby, MT connecting to the Cascades in Seattle for Vancouver, BC. We will be taking the Canadian from Vancouver to Toronto. We will be staying in Toronto from the 8th to the 12th where we will be taking Amtrak 7097 for New York. We will be spending 7 nights in New York before catching Amtrak #19 the Cresent for New Orleans. We will be in New Orleans 7 nights before working our way to Chicago. We will be staying in Chicago until New Year's when we will be catching the Empire Builder where we will be going to where we began our adventure.
Do you have any suggestions for things to do in Toronto in December? Thank you Michael and I can't wait for your suggestions.
How does it work with train engineer shifts on a non-stop route? Do they have off and on shifts like team truck drivers?
ОтветитьI'm posing for all my family and individual photos like this guy now. Wide-eyed and arms extended. 😂
ОтветитьWhere is your side kick Will?
ОтветитьYeah it would be fun to see if it didn't cost a billion dollars
Ответитьin germany delay is normal 😂
ОтветитьWhy not explore the fast trains in Europe. I did my whole Italy trip by fast train. Very cheap if booked early. The views are magnificent.
