I try to grow pigs but is sad to now only 100 to 150 profit per pig..my plan for this year is grow pigs for my family and learn to process save some meet for my family and the rest sell for my friends and people close to me...
ОтветитьTalk to your congress people about how we want then to vote yes on the Prime act H.R. 2814 this new bill will help the small farmer and custom butcher shops!
ОтветитьSomething I found interesting in the latest USDA "National Daily Hog and Pork Summary", July has the highest selling price every single year. July is also the lowest month for pork production. So it looks like the goal should be to sell pork in June and July and be done selling no later than the last week in August. So basically sell pork for 3 months out of the year. The price difference in months is extreme, like around a 60% difference in selling price. I've never seen a video talk about timing the pork sale.
ОтветитьI see $5/pound at the grocery store for pork chops. How do you compete with that?
ОтветитьWe raise GOS pigs 🐷 we love raising them. The best hogs we ever raised to be honest 😊
ОтветитьJust wondering what happened to price/lb numbers when you take Kalifornia and New York out of the equation?? LOL
ОтветитьFirst video... Subscribed!! Are those Mangalista pigs in the background?
ОтветитьI always appreciate people talking numbers. Thanks for the vid!
ОтветитьWe are kinda going this way just by accident actually we want to feed people for free or get paid a little but we want the animals to pay for them self feed and small profit would be ok but we want over abundance to help others.
But a bulk feeders on wheel are fairly expensive but goes straight to your bottom line here are my numbers.
Sow bag feed 16% protein 23 a bag 46 cents a pound 50# bag feed
Sow bulk feed 16% 500 a ton or 25 cents
Are bulk grower feed 17% and 4% fat for 280 a tone or 16 cents a pound.
But that is not the whole story with bulk feeders no more bags no labor moving feed around we get feed every 3-6 month gas savings it is truly amazing saving in labor and money you can break it down in labor saving in time travel bulk feeders are my next investment
Perfect break down. Great video.
ОтветитьI wish I could find feed at the price you're seeing. Here, a 50lbs bag of 16% Grower is $21
ОтветитьExcellent breakdown. Thank you!
ОтветитьHaving the numbers appear on the screen as you were discussing them, was brilliant. Thank you
ОтветитьSeems like pigs are best as an addon to an existing farm that can supplement their feed with farm waste. Likely more value in that then composting it. Joel has an interesting system going. Strange that pork is valued so much less than beef given the meat is still great. Cows seem easier to manage too. I think I'd just raise them for myself and keep cattle for market.
ОтветитьThis is the first video I've seen of yours. Great info. Thank you. Subscribed.
ОтветитьJust watching this 9 months late but right now I'm in south Carolina and tenderloins are like $15 per pound, bacon and pork chop around $11 per pound would you consider that good market?
ОтветитьI'm very impressed by the quality of this video.
ОтветитьThat is cheep
ОтветитьI payed 100 dollars a piece because i could not find them close to me i had to drive 2 hours from me
ОтветитьThat was great! Reality. What a concept!!
ОтветитьI hear everyone talking about selling half and whole, as well as individual cuts, but is it profitable to sell directly to a packer? I'm assuming not since I don't hear that ever mentioned.
ОтветитьYa now it's all show piglets 300.00 to 600.00 per pig
ОтветитьMan, the government really gets us with their retail cut processing requirements. The custom slaughter exemption should be extended to all retail sales in the state the animal is produced.
ОтветитьHow much can you get if you sell the pig once hes been fattend?
ОтветитьVery informative video thank you
ОтветитьWell done.
ОтветитьI like your videos. If you don't mind, I will start sharing them to get your subscriber count higher.
