Awesome presentation. It seemed I was very much there
ОтветитьGreat city to visit. One place I think you need to mention is St. Peter’s School founded in AD 627 where Guy Fawkes attended.
ОтветитьThere are 5 bar entrances
Ответитьইয়র্কশায়ার খুব সুন্দর!

ОтветитьGreat informative tour - really good research and wonderfully delivered. Great work.
ОтветитьI was fortunate enough to visit York twice whilst studying in Leeds back in the 80's from the US. I found York to be the most enjoyable part of our trip. Thank you so much for this trip down memory lane ❤
ОтветитьHow many months did you have to wait for a relatively sunny day? I would love to visit England but then the weather puts a damper on that fantasy and I choose a sunny tropical island instead.
ОтветитьApparently in the bars like Walmgate they'd open the doors and allow you into the central section closing the doors behind whilst they decided if you should be let into the city. If they decided you should be let in then the doors in front of you would be opened. If on the other hand they decided that you shouldn't be let in then all manner of rubbish would be thrown down upon you including boiling oil. But even in those times oil was expensive and they didn't like wasting it in this manner so some other liquid needed to be found that was much cheaper or preferably free and they found it. Urine in plentiful supply and completely free.
Some woman have an idea that Dick Turpin was a dashing good looking man but in reality he was short, fat and ugly. I've been to York and it's a fascinating city to visit including the NRM.
Why?
Ответить
It's mostly Georgian and Victorian, judging by the architecture. I can think of more Medieval cities in England.
ОтветитьAbout to arrive in York...a fantastic summary preparing us. Thank you for your effort with this video.
ОтветитьBeautiful 🤍
ОтветитьNot like that now, very dirty and run down. Many empty shops and beggars/homeless most of whom are con artists praying on tourists. Born in York lived here all my life and no longer proud to say that.
ОтветитьMy husband is from York so I have that change to visit there time to time and I m enjoying York very much ❤
ОтветитьMerci pour cette vidéo,je suis française et c'est la première vidéo qui va dans les détails pour décrire une ville bravo !
ОтветитьThe shambles was much better before it turned into 'Harry Potter World'.
ОтветитьMEMORYSEEKERS ....I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO YORK ....I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT !...SO THANKS TO YOU I CAN TAKE A PEAK HERE ...AND SEE WHAT ALL THE FUSS IS ABOUT 😁👍🏻 I HAVE A ,FUNNY FEELNG I AM GOING TO LOVE THIS , YOU KNOW !👍🏻🙏🏻💖
ОтветитьObscure fact: when the Lloyds Bank building in Pavement was being built in 1972, an archaeological excavation unearthed the largest coprolite (fossilised turd) ever discovered. It was probably of Viking origin, 8 inches long, 2 inches wide and probably caused its original owner a fair bit of discomfort. You can see it in the Jorvik Viking Centre.
Also worth a look are the mediaeval Guildhall and the Mansion House, the latter being the oldest in the UK and the nominal home of the Lord Mayor of York. The Lord Mayor is the second citizen of England, the Lord Mayor of London being no1. Only York and London can call their Mayors "Lord Mayors" because York is England's second city.
I've lived in the City of York since 1978, mostly in the villages to the north of the city. I worked there all my working life: not once have I ever wished to leave. And in those 40 years, there are several things mentioned on here that I've never got round to visiting. This fantastic video shows just what an incredible place York is.
It also has amazing pubs (try the Blue Bell, tiny and unchanged for over 120 years; featured at 15.39) and some fabulous cafes and restaurants.
Was in York for two days last week. This is just perfect as already I'm planning a return visit to cover the few things that got away on this trip..
ОтветитьExcellent vid mate. Thanks
Ответитьmy beautiful home, what a city
ОтветитьReally enjoyed your stuff on York, im born in Manchester with Yorkshire relatives, my uncle looked after the Howard's cars including Rollsroyce from Castle Howard around 1950s , my dad often cycled with friends from Oldham and stayed with Uncle John and wife Helen, they had 4 sons? Cheers 🍻 from Australia 🇦🇺
ОтветитьMedieval England is my favourite historical period to learn about so I'll need to take a trip from London down to York for a few days to see all of this. Thanks for the info.
ОтветитьExcellent video, very informative
ОтветитьThanks a lot. I'll be visiting York in short and I find this video really helpful. ❤
ОтветитьMy family visited York many years ago. Loved it. The Viking exhibit was excellent.
Edit: It’s great that videos of this type exist. They build places up, as opposed to those that want to show what dumps cities are becoming. I’d rather feel happy and exited than depressed.
Love it! England so beautiful! Please take care of yourself heritage!
ОтветитьYour video is so excellent! It seems very professional and I am very excited to see the pubs and shambles especially. Coming from the US, we will visit in early June. Any advice on weather? I am thinking it will be around 68 F; We are so excited to experience all the history of York.
ОтветитьThe Viking Merchants still sell their goods in the Merchant hall every year
ОтветитьI am lucky enough to live in this city and do a PhD.
ОтветитьFANTASTIC, THIS IS THE MOST DETAILED AND COMPREHENSIVE INTRODUCTION TO BRITAINS MOST HISTORIC , MULTI-LAYERED CITY, OUTSIDE THE CAPITOL. AND IN MY OPINION ( HAVING STAYED THERE FOR A WEEK) SOME YEARS AGO. EVEN THEN, IT WASN'T POSSIBLE TO SEE IT ALL, ALTHOUGH, BEING A HOT AN SUNNY SUMMER WEEK, THE CROWDS SLOWED US DOWN SOME.
Ответить❤👍
ОтветитьCan you give me some insight on where you booked your train. I have looked on a few train websites and I know you said it can be quite expensive, the trains I’m looking at are hugely expensive
ОтветитьIt's so wonderful - wish I could live there ...
ОтветитьI have viewed your various videos on beautiful places in England. Thank you for these virtual tours that you shared to us. I am from the Philippines and I must say I enjoy every minute of it. Educational and aesthetically visual.
Ответитьunderrated video
ОтветитьRad
