I liked this film was a damn good movie

Any max payne fan knows the movie was dogshit and didnt do the character justice and messed up the plot

After the playing the game the movie is very below average

The title should be max payne: feeling nostalgic

Was expecting John Woo and Phillip Marlow on a wild acid trip. What I got was just some box standard bad videogame movie that didn’t do either aspect well. Too sterile to be a noire and too grounded to be a Shanghai gun play movie. What a waste of both a revolutionary story device and good actors like Mark Wahlberg, Beau Bridges and Donal Logue. They did their best and they definitely played their roles as close to perfect as one could but the direction just didn’t work. Also as much as I love Mila Kunis and as good an actor as she is she is not a femme fatale. She doesn’t have that sexy dangerous vibe or that manipulative personality needed to play Mona Saxx. Famke Janssen would’ve been a way better pick for the role. She’s gorgeous, she’s got the sultry voice, she’s drop dead sexy as hell and she can play it perfectly without coming off as a child pretending or worse a porn star trying to act. She could’ve easily been a legendary Mona Saxx. What a shame. As it stands it’s a possible action film that can serve as a time passer while on a plane. Had it been directed by John Woo and played up to its full mature setting rather than watered down for the wall licking majority it would’ve been the movie that broke the curse of videogame movies. Instead it’s resting comfortably in the era of failed videogame movies forever looking up at the true curse breakers of Sonic the hedgehog. A damn shame.

I watched the movie without a previous knowledge of the game...and I loved the movie.

There's a way to make a good Max Payne movie but somehow Hollywood didn't think about it. It's very simple: just cast James McCaffrey as Max, Sam Lake as writer and John Woo as the Director

This movie should have been FILLED with lengthy John Woo-style action scenes, combined with Humphrey Bogart-style neo-noir. But instead, the action scenes are rather few and also pretty short. Hell, it would have been perfect if John Woo himself directed this. This movie should have been the american Hard Boiled.

Matt Reeves would do an excellent job directing Max Payne & THE FALL OF PAYNE. Maybe even do a better story than Max Payne 3, which is still really well done.

My entire life was just moving pictures on a screen, the disturbing feeling of people watching my every move and I just being a wickedly handsome actor performing my story in a high budget narrative retelling.
I was in a blockbuster film.
Funny as hell, it was the most horrible thing I could think of.

For real tho, the Max Payne movie lacked the amount of inner dialogue that made the video game so special. Max's thoughts and reflections were an integral part of the game, providing depth and insight into his character and the world around him. Without this inner dialogue, the movie fell short in capturing the essence of Max Payne. It was like they had stripped away a layer of his character, leaving nothing but a superficial shell. The movie could have been so much more if they had stayed true to the game's spirit, and included more of Max's inner thoughts and reflections. It's a missed opportunity that fans of the game will always lament.

Max Payne needed better writers and casting. The closest thing we got to max Payne was John wick, that’s how it should play out with more noir elements and the music from the game
