Immersive Sim such an ambiguous, useless phrase. I's great as a design philosophy, but it's terrible term for a genre. You have more people arguing what is or what does not fit this genre more than enjoying it (For example, this video's definition of needing a character that plays as a "pawn", where the wikipedia definition of the genre doesn't talk about that at al). This would not be a problem if people used the clear term "Deus Ex-like" or "Shock-like". At least that clearly communicates what you mean when you use the term.

Bioshock infinte is such an overrated game. Mid story and gameplay, its sad that out of all the games in the list, this one is the one that got undeserved praise.

Fun fact about BioShock Infinite: apparently the popularity of Elizabeth was very influencial in 3D NSFW animations scene leading to some major developments there and growth of this market.

Why would an immersive sim final boss say "You of all people?" if you're no one important? You might as well be the chosen one, just an underdog who's underestimated in that case, I think a better explanation qould be something along the lines of "So you're the asshole I've been hearing about." because they slowly learned about you through your exploits.


Also, for your alcoholic beverage analogy; E.Y.E would be medical alcohol, should you drink it? Obviously not, but god damn it'll fuck you up and there'll be a brief moment where you feel on top of the world. God I love E.Y.E so fucking much.

I had been playing it on my computer, and was having a great time with it. Christmas time was coming around, and I bought a PS4 copy for my oldest brother. He got into it really quickly, and it became his favorite in about a week. Had a fantastic time nerding out with him over the game, and watching him explore Talos station

The new System Shock remake is like heaven to me.

The Dark Mod is NOT using The Dark Engine (it's on the idTech4, aka Doom 3 Engine).

I would like to put forth for the board, DUSK, as candidate for an immersive sim. It has a surprising number of the hallmarks related to the genre. A wide array of interactable objects that can be used to solve problems, weapons that also serve other functions beside "use gun on man". Interesting level design with varying degrees of lateral thinking that is allowed to solve problems IE you don't need a key to open a door if you can just shoot the windows and go through there or rocket jumping over a wall.

While it is primarily an FPS, I would like to remind the board that a wide variety of immersive sims are also in the first person so it should not retract it's inclusion.
