The show Joey wasn’t good and it’s mostly because of the writing. They took out everything that was known and beloved about him and replaced it with mediocre situations, life and characters not to mention they took away his 5 friends that also had a hand in making Joey Joey and the chemistry they had together. If something works don’t change it. They just wanted us all to desperately accept this “new” or “different” Joey but what’s the point ? when you are doing a spin off of a character because of who that character is and the fans that like him.

A Chandler and Monica show could have worked only if they showed them growing together as a couple battling the obstacles that life throws at them while juggling having children and retaining that lovable silly and sarcastic goofiness between them while also trying to be responsible and serious parents for the sake of their family. it wont work if its a show only about them as it can grow stale throughout time. it can be about only them in the beginning like "mad about you" did because Chandler and Monica can be that it couple that is great together that only get each others sarcasm and silliness but fans will want to see them grow, the show Mad about you worked because of the type of relationship those two shared was likable and because the audience grew to only know them for it.

a Ross and Rachel show may have sounded good but wouldnt have worked because their comedy eould have gotten stale and theres nit much you csn do with then and their children as their dynamic and lifestyle was prone to just be a boring married couple raising children. whst made them lovable in friends is their off and on relatiinsjio and the fans longing flr their unresilved loce to be resolved. they managed that towards the end of friends and they are assumed to live happily ever after. watching a show about them just raising children and married with them no longer going on a break and their friends not being present or along for the ride was sure to have that show fail as well.

i think the only friends star that mad sense to have a spin off and so much can be done for is Phoebe. even if some friends fans say no way because she was least liked or least attractive as i read some commentators on here say (which is just so horrible to just point out about phoebe and minimize her to only that which is trivial), phoebe had an interesting personality and awkwardness that can be worked with and exploited and can create interesting segments and storylines with people she dates and connects with or comes and goes in her life throughout the seasons heck she can even have a fling or passed relationship with a female since phoebe is just so weird and full of surprises not to mention she had a mysterious and unique background story that can be delved into and her twin cam be used to an advantage in the story arc and drama. shes the only character that can pull this spin off with or without the rest of the friends involved.

i have dont like it that they have talk about the other friends in every part of the season ...but we dont see anyone of them ....never......

I watched this show when it first aired and I didnt like it. Joey changed, it was not the same friends Joey. I understand the point of the series is that Joey had to "finally mature" and focus on himself but they changed his essence, his soul per se. Also, Alex was B O R I N G, not at all a match for Joey. 1 or 2 friends cameos per season wouldve been great, maybe a phone call with Chandler, hell, he didnt have to be on set, just film him at a hotel room or something talking on the phone. Ultimately, the show was boring and it's a shame.

I think the whole problem with this show is that it followed the juggernaut that was Friends. Trying to follow up a show of that magnitude is nearly impossible. Also, by 2004 television was beginning to rapidly change. This show felt like it was stuck in 1998, not 2004.

The show wasn’t that bad, the problem was that they didn’t have a great supporting cast. What made a show like frasier great and successful was that they had a great and memorable supporting cast ( the brother and the father, heck even the dog was memorable).

Don't know why this show failed. This was even funnier than Friends sometimes.. Very fast-moving story. So much better than The office, big bang theory, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and that pathetic Ted's show HIMYM.

This show would have been awesome if they just would have replaced Matt LeBlanc with Matthew Perry and called it "Chandler" instead of "Joey"

I remember watching this show!!! I just wish you could stream or purchase this show!!! Friends is available to purchase and stream but this show "Joey" isn't available for streaming or purchasing!!! I hope this show does eventually!!!

I managed to watch this show in 2005 on local channel till second season. Even got the DVD set few years later. Yet still surprised not many people knew this series. I think it was decently promoted but most entertainment critics at that time were very unfair & heavily criticized the show in first season.
