I have the Canon RF version, and they are great (35, 50, 75); great lenses (I used them on my R5).

"on the 1s and 2s" means when DJs were mixing on the legendary Technics 1200 turntables. Mostly in the 90s UK DnB and Garage scene. FYI! 🙂

oval bokeh and flares ... is there any other good/special thing about anamorphic, desqueezing has 2 option cheating more Pixel from left to right oder supersampling the vertical resolution. With a normal lens i would crop and use the extra pixel to choose the best part of the image or keyframes to remove some unwanted movement. Getting a wider field of view is a stupid reason normal lenses have a ton more option for wider view or is there someting special?. Can anybody explain is there a subtil difference in the image, for me it sounds like nobody knows there is a option to crop, and there is no loosing of a singel pixel of quality, 4k from left to right is alwals 4k, 10 to 1 aspect ratio, no problem any camera can do that ... Im about to buying a Sirui but i dont know why i have only 2 days to choose

I wonder how the lens flares are going to work with a diffusion filter. If you really want a cinematic look, I think both would be preferable.

Looks great, based on your examples I would use 50mm for most scenes . Prob use the 100mm for cut and jump shots.

I think the lack of flares from reflections is likely related to the variable ND filters as well; they're made of two polarisers stacked on top of each other at varying angles so there's a good chance of at least one of them cancelling out any given reflection. Reflections are highly polarised and easily blocked (deliberately or accidentally) with a polarising filter

"It's actually really difficult to get it to flare." Damn that sounds great! Not looking for the flares, want that unique bokeh and aspect ratio without ruining my images!

“1s and 2s” comes from hip-hop. It’s a reference to turntables. DJs would often say they were spinning on the “1s and 2s.” 😆

is it possible to use this lens (e-mount) on a Black magic pocket 4k?
What would happen if you used an adapter from E-mount lens to Nikon F-mount first, and then from nikon to black magic?

Great video, light and informative. Most of the footage looks really great and I love all of it except the blue streaks against the sun. It’s too obvious. I wonder if the front glass is a filter that causes it?

I appreciate the time and effort to make this video and all the info it’s great, I did see you guys highlight and emphasize the low budget that this lens is and the not so great profesional results which I agree, I’m sure whoever gets this lens and combine it with a Sony A7 or canon R6 isn’t expecting the quality of a RED camera, this is a entry lens and by no means is competing with a Hollywood budget production on the other had is also the director and story linen what will complement this lens, gear is great but is one element of many to create, the movie blue moon was shot on a iPhone but still an great example of what can be accomplished with a low budget, I don’t mean to offend your hard work and knowledge, I’m just sharing my input and thank you for your videos!

Nice review! So, with there being an RF mount, would this work on the Canon EOS R5 then? Also, I heard the Atomos Shinobi monitor has a desqueeze built in. Would that be the way to go with the R5? Again, great review, thanks!

"that's what you want from anamorphic, that vintage "bad look". Reminds me of when the unsophisticated would devise "film looks" that only encompassed the flaws of film and completely miss the beauty of what it does so well. If we had flares on set, the grip would be fired for being unprofessional. Now you can Pay to add them to your video and people talk a blue streak about how desirable they are!

As a technical channel, most of your viewers are probably interested in which lenses to use, and would likely be interested in knowing what lenses you are using for every shot. It would be amazing if you added a side note for every shot about which camera/lens was used, even if just in the subtitles, such as [Sony FE 2.8/24 G].
