I wouldn’t say Freedom tower is iconic. Outside of its height, it’s rather unremarkable in the skyline of NYC. Twin Towers were much more of a presence.

I a unique design. Aestheticslly pleasing. Iconic. Built with a deep meaning and heart. Possibly the best or 2nd best skyscraper in the world 😊

I wish they had built two of them to make the towers even stronger.

I live in Australia and have never been to New York, I think the 1 world trade centre is a very beautiful building and gives the skyline a very different appearance. But the old buildings should still be standing but for Evil happening that day.

I'll bet u that building has anti aircraft defense at the top of it.

The original twin towers had a time stamp of the late 70 early 80's. The OWTC is contemporary and of all times. They did an amazing job.

I really don't like this building. I can see why the twins weren't rebuilt, but the all-glass look of the 1 WTC does not seem right. It looks out of place and unnatural in the New York skyline, and it kind of ruins it for me.

I think the new tower is beautiful, but I do miss the original twins. It was just different.

I miss them so much my old stomping grounds it still baffles me the destruction of this engineering Marvel how fanatism combine with evil can do so much harm I strongly believed that we had to rebuild them taller & stronger today's complex doesn't compare to the original in any way it was a iconic world renowned area today is just another city skyline with a giant syringe 💉 as it's main attraction next to fish bones (the mall) and now a new square cube looking like a gift wrapped box I'm tired that the developers said they took in account the people's choice , lie! 80% of REAL NEW YORKERS wanted it rebuilt! But now that's history

Architecturally I prefer the modern building. But I'm no New Yorker and would leave the last word to the good people of the greatest city on earth.

This building is as safe as the old towers were. One day if America has an oil crisis again and needs a justification to invade a middle east country, they will burn this down too with "jet fuel".

i feel disappointed in the new building. It could have been so much more, but what we have is a plain, boring sky scraper, just like all the others across the world.
It just doesn't have the same impact as the original twin towers did, they were like the 'full stop' (period),of New York , your eyes gravitated to them because they were dominant and powerful looking and they really, really defined New York to all of us people across the world (I'm English).

just look at pictures from before 9/11 and afterwards, the new tower is just not that present on the skyline. Yes, it's the tallest and yes it's ok, but it really does not stick out as the defining building of the city.

I was conflicted about the new building. I felt that the best way to stick it to the terrorist was to to rebuild exactly what was destroyed and give them the finger. Then I read that some people didn't want to see them rebuilt because they would be too much of a reminder. Then I read that even more people approved of rebuilding at least a replica of what was destroyed, because it would symbolize the strength and resilience of the United States. At the very least build 2 new towers because that is what was knocked down.
What do you all think about this issue?

I believe the main problem with this tower compared to the original WTC is that it doesn't have a plaza, a place where you can freely travel around the complex without having to step on the road, not even the Empire State, the most iconic skyscraper in NYC has a plaza, because guess what, it's a single building not a complex like the WTC, so not having a way to connect them other than being close makes them feel disconnected, almost like they could be independent buildings instead of looking like vassals of the Twins like in the original WTC, which is one of the main reasons they looked so intimidating, I like the symbolic meaning of the og towers now being pools, but they honestly just seem like a waste of space to have two massive pools in one of the most important zones of Manhattan, and if their intention of not rebuilding the towers in the first place was to not make relatives of the victims remember them, why would you make a whole park basically dedicated for people to remember them?

Ahh? They built back 1 building. And they pat themselves on the back. The first time they built 2 at the same time. And that was iconic!

The twin tower did look dated it’s sad what happened but one world trade looks nice modern and compliments the ground zero memorial
