Yuup got the XL OG’s it’s a whole new knife!

Hogue Deka is a total Bugout killer. I absolutely hate my Bugout. And seeing how thick the cartridge liners are in my Deka just made it worse.

Just did this yesterday and the only problem I had was getting the pivot back in. That was resolved by a tip from the Nick Shabazz video on disassembling this knife. Also no need to remove the barrel spacers. Just swap the show side scale first, then remove pivot and do the other side. The trick is when replacing the pivot, cut one tip off a Q Tip and use it to hold the axis lock switch open, with the blade out. It's pretty easy. Your work tray is awesome and I'm getting one. Also really like the milling pattern on your scales. This time I got the OG1 and live them but next time I'm trying those diagonal lines.

Thanks for posting! Installed mine today, stone gray expanded with the black wharny blade. Ooo la la. Completely different knife, it really did feel cheap and toy like - that “polymer” was not a good choice by Hogue, but the blade is glorious. The OG scales are extremely well done, perfect fit and finish. Anyway, thanks for the vid and the hack, I was able to stick a paracord fid in the pivot hole and it made things easy. ‘Preciate ya.

Just an FYI: I've seen a couple of other folks do the swap, they swap one scale at a time. That way, they don't have to fully disassemble the knife.

These look better than their expanded mesh looking scales (which look good too). That tool looks like a timesaver… awesome looking knife with your new scales!

Great looking scales. Have you tried to replace the thumb studs? Mine are sharp as hell.
