This is Dota allstars grubby not Dota 1. Dota 1 was on reign of chaos and had only 6 hero’s, one of them was Riki, he was a red in colour, and placed mines like techies.

Dota 2 is of course far superior, but there are some things about Dota 1 that is better imo. Camera movement is so smooth and nice in the WC3 engine, is one thing.

Helm of dominator was my favorite carry item, u can make stacks and have great sustain

as a 13 years veteran of this game I'll list some of the mistakes you did (I didnt play it for 8 years tho).
1- YOU NEEEEED to get inventory hotkey tool. You can easily google it.
2- jungle in dota 1 is absolutely not worth it in early game both exp and gold wise, only a couple heroes can jungle early like lycan or lone druid with special items too.
3- avoid engaging with enemy heroes early game always keep your distance but not too far from exp range, stay passive as long as possible to gain as much levels as you can early that will boost your whole game, dying early can do massive damage. ofc get all the last hits you can (gold/deny).
4- don't buy scroll at the start :D, when you die you can buy 1 to get back asap, but not at the start as its a dead item for a big chunk of your starting gold.
5- every second you are not around creeps (for exp) is a waste of time, chasing or trying to gank another lane for a kill isnt worth the time, you are better off killing some creeps than wasting your time for a not guaranteed kill (there is exceptions but dont worry about them now you will figure it out later)
6- know the good spots for hiding / kiting enemy at early game, there is good hides behind every first tower, making the enemy take couple more tower hits while trying to kill you can turn the tide in your favor.
idk im just typing stuff to bring more nostalgia memories into my brain, good days :(
