Bla bla bla video, not very pedagogic
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьSocratic Method is a one way to develop critical thinking. Give 3 actual examples or scenarios that uses the Socratic method and describe briefly
ОтветитьWow! and just Wow! I am on here looking for an answer to a professor who has our classroom attempting to fill out a 5E lesson plan to pretend teacher ing and actual digital lesson plan (All this is a year prior to being applying to even get into the credential program mind you and with no foundation of knowledge ever writing a lesson plan) and the texts he has given on important subjects such as UDL, CSP and SJE are great but the information 15 years old on the five E's is confusing and on top of it he keeps changing the words to even understand it? The entire class except one group is lost now for 1 month and he has never given us one bit of info on figuring out the 5E's he only states no and you do not have it? So I watched you video and I now have a belief that Socrates style is not actually being used and is a hijack and a rip-off to give common core validity because of your statement about silencing the verbal students who may be asking questions to allow for others to do so? As well as the lacking foundation to present questions on a brand new subject would all depend if the information is there and if the teacher starts saying there is a right answer by stating no or yes then he has been given the power to harm because of this method not being clearly defined with no way to resolve abuse (the irony?)? To have an approach that assumes students will change their beliefs is in itself assuming all students are inherently coming from a flawed background? Lastly, it is taking a famous philosopher who asked questions to the status quo but now the status quo is using his method to stop questions that ask about their version of the Socratic Method? Wow!
ОтветитьRebutting is pronounced “re-butt-ing,” not “re- byoot-ing.” Not trying to be nitpicky. Mispronouncing words often just means people read a lot.
Ответитьit is very clear
ОтветитьHow do I apply it in a Math class?
ОтветитьInteresting..thank you
ОтветитьI was intelligent, my school made me an idiot..
ОтветитьYou told us nothing. Especially about the Socratic Method.
ОтветитьAttempts at critical thinking, without the participants having a reasonably solid foundation of factual knowledge, quickly turn into little more than exchanges of emotionally charged opinions. Modern education has fucked up four generations of Americans by focusing them on thinking processes rather than the acquisition of actual knowledge.
Modern teaching methods assume, without any basis in fact, that exposure to rhetorical processes and strategies for cognition will somehow magically confer greater comprehension ability, and a superior capacity to evaluate and judge substantive matters. All it actually does is give people with strong emotions, little curiosity, and some prepackaged dogma, the ability to argue - not to advance knowledge through open discussion and mutual exploration. The only effective way to challenge false core assumptions that children were brainwashed with is to teach them how to search for, qualify, and retain facts. Without a solid and broad foundation of facts, having thinking strategies alone ultimately just turns people against knowledge acquisition. People become adept at rejecting factual knowledge they haven’t heard before. Carbon dioxide and anthropogenic climate change is one good example.
Bro this was helpful.
Thanks. Liked and Subscribed.
lol that intro
Ответитьyou're moving around so much, its a bit stressful to watch, which is a shame because your advice is good
ОтветитьVery nice Sir.
ОтветитьThank you for this, I wish I knew this when I was a child
Ответитьtoo fast
ОтветитьSlow down!. Please, slow down!
ОтветитьI would like to share your videos with others through a presentation. Is there a way to access your video clips without ads?
ОтветитьUpload again :((( pls
Ответитьas the most articles on socratic method you find on the web, this video doesn't actually explain how to do it. it only talks about general principles.
ОтветитьI think Socratic Questioning is BRILLIANT. Thank You for this teaching,
ОтветитьIs there some reason for you to flit around the screen like a Drunken Fly.
ОтветитьI was looking for a quick video to roughly outline what the Socratic Method was and how I could implement it.
This video is exactly what I was looking for.
Good content, but you speak too fast. And yes, I'm a competent native speaker.
ОтветитьThanks! Great starting point for sure. Are you able to post an example of a Socratic dialogue please? I am trying to find an example to show to my class...
ОтветитьThx that was useful
Ответитьwhy are his eyes so red
ОтветитьMuch too rapid and lacking in detail.
ОтветитьSocratic discussions suck, mostly when you had anxiety, social anxiety
ОтветитьThanks for clarifying the method.
ОтветитьYou guys like Lil Pump?
ОтветитьExcellent concept! Western high schools and universities should implement this method. Imagine! Teaching students to actually THINK!!! Facts over feelings all day everyday :)
ОтветитьThe ting go skrrrra pap pap cla cla cla skiddikipapap and the br br brrr boom skyyya du du ku ku du doom poom poom.
ОтветитьVery good. Only one comment: please speak slowly to enable non native English speakers to understand you fully. Thanks a bunch :)
ОтветитьNice job in summarizing this!
ОтветитьWhen teaching ethics? How about critical thinking is important, always. :P
ОтветитьThanks! Will do.
ОтветитьSocrates is/was awesome!
Ответитьbruh
ОтветитьI would prefer a power point to jump cuts
ОтветитьIm afraid that when I speak in the seminar, no one would add on to my piece of the argument. Creating a awkward silence with stares going around the room until someone completely disregards my thought. The flow will be choppy because of me.
ОтветитьHe cute
ОтветитьVery helpful. I am looking to improve my skill at using Q&A in the classroom rather than lecture. I will apply your advice. Personally in planning a class I think, what knowledge do students need to acquire, and what questions will yield that information.
ОтветитьThank you! This is a great clarification and simplification that is applicable in the classroom!
Ответитьskateline NBD?
ОтветитьI have a question. Why are schools failing kids so badly?
Ответить
