When you think about it, Rin and Shiemi are really similar. Rin saw Shiro (his dad) get killed, and Shiemi saw her grandmother get killed. They also both have a burden at the beginning (Rin having to hide the fact that he's a demon and Shiemi's leg problems) but they both eventually get over them!
