Should I sell my homestead eggs?

Hey everyone,

Selling eggs from your homestead chickens!

This doesn’t include fertilized eggs, chicks, or selling poultry.

👩‍🌾Ask any homesteader…selling eggs is not your most profitable pursuit. Make sure you’re feeding your family first and sell your excess eggs to offset the costs of your poultry operation.

🌾You can only charge so much for eggs or people won’t buy them. So the best route is to focus on cutting the costs of your flock. Cost cutting is best done through feed. Consider growing fodder, fermenting feed, feeding scraps, and letting them free range. They are going to meet their own nutrient needs if given the opportunity.

✅Make sure you’re following your states laws. This can usually be confirmed through your state’s food and agriculture department. In most cases, you can sell off farm but you need to label cartons and/or have an egg handlers license through the state.
