$2000 Honda Civic K-Swap Quick Build - PT 1

Man, as an aircraft mechanic who's done overhaul to engines and engine accessories it's really hard to watch new or overhauled parts being attached to uncleaned, non reworked parts!

So what do I really need to kswap my eg hatch I already have k20a with 6speed tranny not doing anything to motor want it stock for now …thanks guys in advance

Depending on what type of paint it is but I like using the red USA brake cleaner, making sure it's the red cap made in the US, or it won't have chlorine in it.

The reason they took off the good paint strippers is because the active ingredient in them; methylene chloride is very bad for your health and its also suspected to be a carcinogen, so you will notice that the paint strippers nowadays use very little or none at all and they will use other chemicals to don't do as good a job. Your choice: your health, or your ktuned valve cover :)

Walmart sells paint stripper in a can for pretty cheap.

Idk about this brake booster delete. I know it's like pushing on a 100 year old tree with your foot expecting to bend it over without a brake booster. Unless that part you got compensates for it I think you're screwing yourselfs.

I reccomend using a sandblaster

the valvetrain is a good reference to care taken on the engine however the crankcase is where you really find out
with the k series being 22 years old now and common head gasket failures,.. I wouldnt be suprised if the head has been cleaned/machined or replaced
if it were running Mobil1 its whole life you'd swear it was a brand new engine when you opened it

need to sand the valve cover a bit first to let the chemicals get underneath the coating but next time use Kleanstrip EAR2000 Aircraft Non-methylene Chloride Paint Remover

We use to use a stuff called Naval Jelly and it would eat through almost anything.

Why does the rack and pinion look different from my civic. Even the cross member there. I have to remove mine from underneath and this looks like you can remove it towards the engine

You can’t strip powder coating with paint stripper. Try putting it in an oven and then scraping it off. Alternatively you can sand blast it away.

What I normally do with pressure wash it then decrease it with whatever you have and I love the product made by aircraft paint remover that s*** I kid you not do not even think about getting it on your hands but after you use it and let it sit that s*** comes off with literally a garden hose
