I have seen the guy being interviewed on another video, and he did seem really nice. Out in the street, he was stared at a bit - obviously; but that was nothing to how the religious reacted.
Now he's considering having part of a leg removed, I would question whether there is some sort of nerve problem.
To me, it looks as if he is trying to resemble the burned remains of a body, and I wonder if, as a child, he saw something traumatic that imprinted on him. It wouldn't need to be something he saw in real life, but from a tv programme.
There are other people who have begged and begged medical services to remove sound, healthy limbs.
The reasoning seems to they feel 'wrong' or out of balance with a complete set of limbs.
We might feel that such a decision is absurd, but the ones who elect for such surgeries claim a great relief when the offending limb is removed. One such person claimed to have lost a limb in a previous life (I think due to WW2), and was not satisfied until that same limb was removed again.

This modification shouldn't even be legal by the practice that altered or removed his nose or ears. Whoever did this with a license should have it revoked. It's clearly mental illness or a thirst for extreme attention.

This person is in a very dark and dangerous place, mentally and physically. This isn't meant to be judgemental or hateful, and I'm not qualified to make a diagnosis. This individual however, is having some obvious issues and it also seems like no modification, no matter how extreme, is ever going to fulfill this void and insatiable need for attention and validation. It's not "normal" and I refuse that anything about this is being normalized. He's in constant pain and he puts his life and health in danger. This person should not be an inspiration or role model for children.
