Jotnar: The Giants of Norse Mythology - (Norse Mythology Explained)

Here’s an interesting point; all original people groups have folklore and legends of giants. I’ve learned somethings about the Jewish “Nephilim” who were fallen angels who rebelled against The Creator and became giants who ate up the world’s resources, mated with human women, and did great evil, and so were the reason The Creator sent the great flood of Noah.

Our cultures have become so shallow in our “modernism,” losing track of what it means to be human, and have history, instead changing our heritage with bland evolution, denying our roots for being in the family of mere monkeys. It’s discouraging and sad to see people caught up in the head-knowledge of brainy science and forget the greater depths and importance of our human heritage and history.

Our world, if it does not remember it’s mistakes from its past, is surely doomed to repeat them.

I feel so trapped sometimes in our world. Even now as I write this I feel a deep longing to go back and experience a caring, close knit family in older times, not that the old times are interchangeable with loving family, but our modern culture has become so utterly shallow and lost all sense of ethical or moral fortitude… as I was saying, I feel so trapped and surrounded by small minded, short thinking individuals who are so caught up in trying to impress others and be cool in the culture’s eyes it feels pointless to try to be an educated or intelligent thinker among so many who- mock, tease, ridicule, harass, put down, revile, and scorn anything good or worthwhile. I am so deeply hurt that there are so many fools today, my own brothers and sisters and mother are all fools and hurt me very badly when I started to grow up from my family’s immature ways… they hated me for being a light to their darkness, and verbally berated me and mocked me and screamed and yelled at me for no fault of my own; simply because I stopped acting immature and started to grow up.

Isn’t that sad!? To lose your own family in search of goodness and morality? It breaks my heart and I pray and ask for your prayers as well for whoever the Creator is to give me a new family to take care of me and support me and encourage me as I become a man. I’m only 23 years old and need guidance and help if I am to become a strong man and not a weak one like most my American brothers are… being shamed for being manly and strong and emasculated with guilt and shame on the daily and having our good qualities forced onto women to bear instead, and being pushed to embody their qualities…

I am not like this and hate what has become of our country! I pray one day I can lead the American people back to the incredible and grandiose power of freedom and liberty we once held to… until then, our American culture must suffer the price of apathy and stupor.

Our children here are nearly all abused too, all around me here I see parents being disrespectful and cruel to their children and uncaring beyond measure! And to think imbeciles here would blame politics for the failure of parents at large to love and educate their children in the most simple ways! Our culture is incredibly stupid and I am growing incredibly discouraged and broken hearted from how horrible our culture has become.

Consider me and pray for me in your prayers or offer your good thoughts and blessings to me if you can please, I am a good guy and want only good for others and myself and am caught in a battle for my heart and soul because of how hard my life has been! I was never loved as a boy and my mother left me alone all as a baby and boy and was very harsh and critical towards me and never cared for my feelings or gave me comfort when I was in pain. She was a heartless woman, self absorbed and very narcissistic! She has led me to believe that I am overthinking how she hurt me, that she pities me and feels sorry for how delusions, that she thinks I am crazy and- she has led me to think I am wrong! She has led me to think something is wrong with me instead of taking ownership that how she raised me was horrible and broke me!

She has diluted and stultified my mind and deceived me and I want her out of my head! My God The Creator help me!!! May God help me and see my soul is desperate for help!!!

They do definitively seem like the Norse equivalent of The Titans from Greek Mythology, as they are extremely ancient and have a lot of powers similar to those of the gods, and most importantly, they are all connected to the state of chaos after the creation of the universe.

I think it's more helpful to think of the jötnar, asir and vanir ect. as clans instead of races. What a god is is in essence: a powerful being.

We don't really consider humans to be different types beings just because they come from a different nation.

I bear the old name of Bo, or Bui, very old, Extremy old. It means farmer, Boer oder Bauer I am not a jötinn. or jätte though. Jötinnar are thougt of extremelmely and giant powerful men. I am only a Bo oder Boer / Bauer.

The swedish word for giant is still "jätte". "Jätte" from old swedish "iætun", from Jotun.

So they're basically the Norse version of the Titans from the Greek religion? Aight. 😊👍

Would you say the jotnar work together more often than not? Also there is the fore jotin. Are there multiple frost or ice Jotin, and do they work together?Also, would Ullr, Boreas, and even Jack Frost be working with these "frost giants" for lack of a better term?

The Marvel Universe refers to the Jotnar by their name and also as Frost Giants. Any other kinds of Jotnar they avoid addressing their existence. I think Thor does refer to Groots race as being some kind of Giant. I may be mistaken.

To be fair, God of War did mention that the Jotnar weren't all giants. Assassin's Creed Valhalla, however...

Jotun were probably giant gods while the Aesir were smaller gods, two separate group of gods, with the Vanir as a third group of gods.
