You know what pisses me off about this generation. NO CUSTOM DIE SIZES. All we get for their convenience is 4GB dies. We don't get 6GB or 10GB anymore, almost as if the industry gave up manufacturing 1 and 2 gigabyte chips. What a nightmare Unreal Engine 5 has become for PC hardware. It gave Intel, AMD, and especially Nvidia excuses to push consumers beyond their comfort zone by price gauging obscene hardware to match games coming out of the one platform. I remember when 2GB was enough to run basically anything ever, and now people say 8GB is the minimum when it should still be the max for most games.

considering that the 4060 ti 16 gig card is barely any different in fps compared to the 8 gig....i seriously dont get the obsession with more vram

hell even my 4060 card is doing just fine and only really needs dlss in a handful of games on 1440p to hit stable 60 fps

somehow i kinda feel like the vram thing is just because we need soemthing to complain about other than the price XD

With all these new cards, what should a budget buyer looking to buy in 2024?

Can't say I regret getting a standard RTX 4070 (the super big Asus TUF model with the overkill triple slot cooler,) coming from an RTX 2070 that's been struggling in some games. There's no way I was gonna let myself suffer more than I already would have in Starfield. If Nvidia keeps up their recent stride of miniscule improvements for the price of "f*** you," I'll consider AMD the next time around.

I keep hearing how each card is either a bad value, or a staggeringly high price.

I just want to upgrade my 1080, but literally ZERO cards entice me to think that I'm getting a good deal for my money.

i still can't understand how people can afford that... i got a 3070 that cost me 46$... yes it's a miner card... yes i got it in a bundle where i sold most of it... but i can't find myself to spend so much on one component...

In the graphs, why don't you put the card name at the END of the bar, currently my eyes are constantly switching between fps number and card names, which are miles apart. Putting Numbers at the beginning of the bar would be weird though, so don't do THAT.

12 slaps of VRAM in the face is still a tough pill to swallow when RX 6800 XT is still at its heels, costs $150 less here in Canada, if you can find it, and ships with 33.3333% more VRAM. Obviously, the same sentiment carries over to RX 7800 XT, even if, for all intents and purposes it is a re-badged and cut down 6800 XT. I wouldn't exactly run around screaming that this card is the best Nvidia can do. Far from it!

Another over priced, under specified card that's just underwhelming. And no, we don't have to "respect stickin to your guns." Price gouging for a mediocre card isn't something to respect.

The fourth Gen is like the 2000er Series. It´s Okay but the differenz between the 4000er and 5000er Series will be huge.

Dude you playing cyberpunk on 4k. thats not what this card is meant for. Its a 1440p card. I have ultra max setting with path tracing on 1440p and I get 80 to 90 FPS consitently. Your using the wrong resolution to test this card.

600 pounds for a 4070 super that only has 12gb ram and only just about blades to get to level a 3080 at times. That's not good value or a step in right direction. Laughably nviduas board partners have 12 gb oc 4070 ti's tryingvto charge 800 to 900 pounds for them...over 600 fir a 12gb 4070 super...laughably bad prices...l will go amd soon tbh.

with raytracing, most games go above 12gb of vram even at 1080p. that should be a dealbreaker.

Nvidias WHOLE scheme is to upsell you. You never get proper specs for your money so you have to get the better model to not run into a bottlneck in 2 years again.

Nvidia is so dumb for not putting 16gb on their mid tier models like 4070 etc, and yet put it on a 4060ti which is just bad. If any of 4070's had 16gb it migh actually make ppl not get the 7800xt or 7900xt.. 4070 super is basicly a 7800xt preformance but again less vram.. 4070 regular is weaker and it has same 12gb. Only a 4070ti super might make sense with 16gb if the price is good.. But again you can just get a 7900xt or xtx for around 800 to 1000... And the names are just so bad, i dont think they even follow what they relase, there is too many models that dont make sense at all.

O good another Nvidia GPU without enough VRAM to justify its price. Nvidia treats VRAM like Apple treats Storage - you really gotta pay up to get enough.

This is an improvement but I still don't think it's worth $100 more than a 7800 xt, the 7800 xt is even still beating it in some things which is kind of astounding. If this thing was at the price point the 4070 currently is, it would be fairly compelling I think.

Shifting into pure personal opinion here but I think this series of cards is pretty ugly as well. I just don't like the design of the shroud at all.

You can't get 16GB on 192b bus (without playing the 3.5GB GTX 970 tricks). You can either get 12GB or 24GB.
If you want 16, it would have to be a 256b bus (more expensive) or 128b (less bandwidth).

Both Nvidia and Apple wanna avoid the volatile (pun intended) RAM prices. The difference is that iPhones runs perfectly with any game on 6GB A15.
