makes me sad it doesn't snow like that or even snow at all more then maybe once or twice each winter down in south of UK and east Anglia.
Still, I remember it snowed 15-20cm in 2022 where I live, not even the beast from the east gave us that much. Once in a lifetime snow that just doesn't fall much anymore.
Remember 2008,2009, 2010 and 2011 having snow down in Kent enough I got off school and you could sledge, even once on christmas day( my favourite memory of christmas) , then moved up to Cambridgeshire when I was 7 in 2012, had snow, 2013 really good snow, 2014 no snow, 2015 snow, 2016, 2017 no snow, 2018 snow, 2019 no snow, 2020 no snow, 2021 snow, 2022 snow, 2023 snow.
It sounds not bad, I know, but the difference is then the snow was the deep stuff, the snow that stuck around for several days or even weeks, I remember there was still snow in early April in 2013, people flocked to Magog down every year for sledging and it would often be more then 10cm deep, it would snow as late as spring and as early as December.
Then since 2015 the snow has changed. It doesn't stay longer then a day or two at most, sometimes it's just falling and unable to settle even on grass or rooftops, and it's way too shallow. 2018 snow was exceptional because it was the first time since 2015 I remember snow falling and being more then 1cm, and now there seems to be a pattern where out of every 2 years, the first one has no snow and is mild, then the other one is cold enough to have snow. The snow used to be a guarantee, now it is a rarity and any snow that does fall and settle never gets more snow on top.
I worry that by the time I'm 30 snow won't be able to fall in South of UK except once every 10 years and light.

i’m in glasgow scotland and i remember this very well. one of those freezing cold lockdown nights where i was in my bed pulling all nighters as my 11 year old self. i used to sleep with my curtains opened and all i can remember is snow in top of snow piling up. i was sitting on the windowsail trying to get the snow outside. i remember the next morning where it was that deep that my foot sinked in the snow whenever i walked. i got 18cm of that good stuff.. wish it was like this again.

As a Boy Scout in Canada, I went on a winter camping trip the day of a snowfall like this.
There was talk of cancelling it, but our pleas won out in the end.
It has become one of the most vibrant memories of my life.

This is a simple change in the weather which happens all the time, just as the climate changes over much longer periods. All this talk of ‘global warming’ is simply propaganda to get people following the ‘experts’ who tell us that they are cleverer than us , so we must do what they say. Such as get rid of our perfectly good cars that are relatively cheap to run, and buy one costing £25-30,000 and which is a nightmare to service, as they can only be done by the dealerships, and costly too. On top of that the creation of electric cars is just as polluting, if not more than normal fuel ones. Add to that the electricity to charge them still comes mainly from fossil fuels, and will continue to do so for decades to come. So to cap it all - we are being told a very expensive tale, which we should take no notice of at all!
Oh! Forgot to mention the other scare story, ‘ we are all dying of pollution’. That’s odd. All we have ever heard over the last few years is - that we are living longer than we ever have, and it is causing problem in social care and for the NHS. You can’t have it both ways, but the ‘experts’ try to kid us!
Another example of following ‘expert’ opinion - Smart Motorways! Taking away the hard shoulder and only providing minimal lay-bys. Some ‘smart expert’ came up with this idea and sold it to a gullible ministry of transport - and how many people have been killed now on these new roads?
