THANK YOU SO MUCH. Even though I came to this very late this video helped tremendously. Earned a subscriber! Was having so many problems but in the end the rebuild database fixed the problem. Was able to connect the external to my ps4 after it wasn’t registering it at all before this and it recognized it and brought up the usually repair message that I usually got whenever the external was disconnected improperly.

when i take my playstation downstairs to use it, the storage device works completely fine. but when i bring it upstairs into my room, it says it’s unable to connect. can anyone explain to me why this is?

I was playing a game last night and it froze, after about a minute it crashed and said the game got corrupted but it was the harddrive, It's got a lot of games I don't wanna have to reinstall them all, I've had it about 3 years and this is the first time it's done this, It's not working in either my new or old ps4, My other harddrive works fine in the ps4 it corrupted in, the lights on, I swapped cord and it didn't work still, Restarted consoles and tried a few other tricks, Till I finally put it into my laptop to see if it wants to work, it's being recognised by my laptop but not ps4's, Any ideas anyone? I Don't wanna reformat unless I really have too so Please if anyone can help me out then Thank You.

what to do if the light on the external hardrive not turn on?

I have all my games on the external storage device... although it says it cannot find my applications, "connect the storage it is installed on" I did, "to install this application on another storage, first delete it and then download it again" what does this mean

I experienced something similar just today. I got the new PS4 update 11.0 I think, couldn't care less, but wanted to play MW2 and Vanguard.
I connected my PS4 slim as usual and updated, (I have all my games on the external drive)
It ended, restarted and the reconstruction bla bla bla
Then once it finished updating, I plugged in the wire and the drive (power to the electric take in the wall and the usb to the ps4 usb port) As always
BUUUUUUTTTTT My PS4 displayed the "reading external drive on the top (cilinder)"
And it lasted forever, so I thought this was failing, so decided to unplug (by going to quick menu and stop using device)
Did it at least 5 times, always was the icon but it never dissapeared.
I unplugged (via rague quit) and then it showed the message of "error at disconnecting bla bla bla"
So i repaired the unit (just as if the lights had went off)
Then I start again and plug it, same thing happened, icon display not dissapearing.
BUUUUTTT Suddenly decided to try Lies of P demo (as I said all my games are on the drive)
PUM it worked, what makes me think it always worked just the stupid icon didn't disappear but the triangle alert icon wasn't there anymore (You know when you have a game in an drive it shows it so you cannot play it until you connect the thing)
So it always worked just was making me insane it didn't disappear so I thought it was failing u.u

This happened to me,my external PS4 drive came up with the drive needed to be repaired and after repairing it came up with wanting to reformat the drive.😮
Checked if there was a System Update for the PS4…..there was.
Updated the PS4 and restarted it and the external drive was recognised with all 70+ software on it after repairing it.😅
SO CHECK YOUR PS4 SYSTEM UPDATE…..i wasn’t looking forward to re-installing over 70 games on the 2TB External Drive.👍

My playstation is fully updated, the hard drive is recognized on my PC, but it suddenly stopped working. Ive had this hard drive for about 2 years and it randomly stopped working this morning. It said that something was corrupted, so i deleted it and redownloaded it, and it was fine. Then it still wouldnt work. I rebuilt the database, and it still wont work. Can someone help please?😅

How can you run Anti-Virus software on an External Hard Drive for PS4 ? When you said in your video that it won't even recognize it on PC? So therefore its impossible to run Anti-Virus on a Ghost device that won't even show up on your PC .

Does rebuilding the data base delete all my data that is on the ps4 and not the hard drive?

Hello my issue is. I have bought 2 External hard drive one of 8TB and another of 6TB. Both USB 3.0.
So apparently are both compatible, but once I try to format as extended storage, I receive the message (CE-41902-6).
Please any help with this?

Everything was working fine but then suddenly my ps4 got stuck, turned off and started itself. Since then its not working. It was still lighting up but the next day i got a new wire and a few minutes later the light stopped turning on too. It still gets recognized on my Laptop but the light doesn't turn on. OMG I could hug you! My dog snagged my charge cord and my system wouldn't recognize my external hard drive and I thought 3 years of work has just gone down the tubes but this helped me restore all the data I thought was lost! Your amazing and I cant thank you enough.

What if I dropped it, then when I try to use it again it does not connect? ( I dropped mine, and it makes a ticking noise every time it’s plugged up. )

When I plug in the external hard drive to a pc nothing comes up … when I plug it in my mac it prompts reformatting it to Apple something. Does anyone have this issue? I’m starting to think my external hard drive is broken or something. This just happened suddenly though.
