Just my opinion: go to the Harley store and buy some S100 and try that instead of foam no brushing needed just rinse and blow dry.

I expected you to use a far less vigorous rinse especially around electrical components. I'll not use your method, if I clean the engine at all, but I guess that can work. Thanks.

Did my dude just pressure wash the battery terminals? As a mechanic, ima say this just once, in the hope that someone thinking about cleaning their engine sees it: STOP cleaning your engine bays and engines. Your are doing more harm than good. Actually, you are doing only harm. Engines will always get dirty, they are not meant to be spotless. If anything, a “dirty” engine helps you identify where leaks are coming from.

Hi Scott, I watched this about 4 years ago when I was selling an 8 year old Odyssey. I picked your approach out of a number on detailing engine bay. It was great, easy and effective. In fact when the first guy came to see the car, he took it for a ride, came back crawled around underneath and asked me to pop the hood. When I saw his face, he was perplexed - why does the engine look like it just came off the line at Honda? were there leaks, major engine work, etc, etc. Fortunately, the rest of the car showed as mint so I just told him that I detail the car myself and take excellent care of my vehicles. 'Nuff said. Closed the deal right then. I just bought a 2002 Vette convertible. Car is mint exterior. Interior and engine bay need some love. I'll be watching this and some other videos you've done to study up before i start. One question about the roof. It is an OEM replacement in the past 5 years - looks like new. I was thinking of using Ragg Top cleaner and Protectant on my roof. Any experience with this product? Thanks again.

Theres something about putting that much water and pressure into an engine bay that loses my interest when it comes to videos like this. I understand for the most part its un harmful to most of the components there but. It just sounds wrong, looks wrong, and feels wrong. Thats just me. Ive never seen anyone or know of anyone who has detailed their engine bay this way. Again no hate on the video its still very nice to see people do this themselves and tell ppl of their experience with it. But generally speaking there has to be a better way to clean an engine bay no?

I want to take on this project in an easy way so that the engine is clean and easy to work on. This looks like a good approach. I’m just going to leave plastic covers on too but, i don’t think ill hose the battery and i have to wrap the alternator.

Nice video & job. One question: I heard that you shouldn’t spray water on the engine (I think from ChrisFix)…is this a fallacy about getting water everywhere on the engine causing problems with electrical and other connections, etc? Should you rather clean everything by hand instead of spraying water under the hood? I need to clean my 2007 RAV4 :-)

I'm not a fan of water in my engine bay only because of the electrical parts n connections. I only saw the top surface cleaned. What about removing the plastic top parts to get to all the parts. Is steam clean any different or better?
