Is there a reason why the wood is not squared up here on the rungs that the handles are on, at the front of the stove it shows those two side top vertical boards with the handles on them are longer than the size of the platform horizontal boards?

Wouldn't you need 2 24 in boards and not 22? 6x4 is 24 inches

Soooooo.....I didn't realize that 1x4 is actually 3/4x3-3/4!!!! Atleast that is what they told me at Lowes when I got home after they cut the wood for me and my two top pieces were almost 2 inches too long! Oops!

Also, make sure the screws that come with your hardware are long enough....sending the hubby to the store today to find screws that will fit the same threading! :)

Paint was too thick suggestion dab off the excess paint into a tissue.

You also need to clamp the boards/ brad nail together while the glue dries.

Do you glue between the long boards before placing the short ones?

Just a tip for glue, spread it out evenly with a brush or your finger, it will adhere more evenly and be stronger!

What did you use for the white paint

In the future, to avoid all the bleeding, use a make up sponge and “dab”, don”t brush, your image. That will prevent the bleeding. It may take you a little longer because you’ll need to make several passes, but there will be no bleeding.

You can use tight bond glue that works just fine even with stain
