dang, what a rig!! how fast do you figure you were going? i have an old BIC 350 that used to make whistling noises when I would catch pre-storm howling wind on a small sailing lake here in Indiana. such a blast. And that turtle!!! omg, I froze the video right when the turtle was to your right, close call !!! thanks man!
ОтветитьThe turtle!
ОтветитьThanks for a superb windsurfing video 👍
ОтветитьThis guy is just such an amazing windsurfing legend, still doing stuff on a board that many windsurfers half his age wouldn't be able to do.
ОтветитьI miss windsurfing. Never was able to afford to go to Hawaii to windsurf. The conditions there look the best. Its pretty amazing to think the sport is around 50 years old. It still looks fresh and exciting when a windsurfer who has been doing it from the beginning shares a day of windsurfing with you.
Ответитьthe legend in action !
ОтветитьCannot beat drone photography! Could possibly track a beacon on the rider?
ОтветитьWhat a legend. Thanks for the inspiration & so many cool adventures 🤙🏼
ОтветитьYou're a beast.
Even with the gopro footage which has a tendency to lower the perceived speed, you can tell that you're CHARGING ! Makes me want to be on the water!
Cheers
Thank you sir for this wonderful portrait of how to live life, do you know Henry Rollins? Same kind of energy level for sure! Sure love the sea too🍀
ОтветитьHey, I noticed you sail out of Harness a lot. why is that??
ОтветитьThanks for the great POV video (especially enjoyed getting some “air time” with the one bigger jump.)
Obviously the lifestyle has kept you extremely fit and still young looking. However, no pink sail with US 1111 ?! OMG, that doesn’t seem right. A pink sail and four one’s is your trademark (and how everyone in the world knows it’s actually Robby Naish they’re lucky enough to be watching.)
aloha
ОтветитьHi Robby, i was once timed at just under 30kts in a national speed event back in the 90s. How the gear has changed, great video, mistral screamer lcs carbon was my favourite board ever, and i used Ken Black cambered sails made in cornwall at the time. My favourite sail size was my KB 5.4 cam slalom. I still have the board in a bag, its worth 1 $ now !!!!! At the age of 72 I don’t sail any more , age catches up with us all, hang loose buddy. Thanks for posting the video.
ОтветитьHow many liters has this board?
ОтветитьEres de mi época. Que tiempos aquellos.
ОтветитьDidn´t looked so smooth, tough conditions.
Ответить7.22 Sea turtle? That was a close one!
ОтветитьThe man, the mythe, the legend, the goat!! I saw you for the first time in Scheveningen the Netherlands in 1987. I'm still windsurfing for years and years, never went to kiting or something else, and still loving it !!!!!! Hold on for what you're doing and remember :
Only a surfer know's the feeling
Really nice. I saw you at Hookipa in 1990. Both aloha classic and some training sessions.
ОтветитьNot a whitecap in sight and RN is going 200mph - superstar!
ОтветитьHi Rob. Are you making any more of the sails? They're sold out. They would be great for foiling on the San Francisco Bay. Any chance you guys might do the single cam one again? I like the short boom on the one you just rode... looks great!
ОтветитьMet you on a promo trip to Cologne beginning of the 80's and talked to you briefly (in German). Already a star - you were so modest and kind.
I dreamt about visiting Hawaii inspired by your story and the pictures of you in Surf magazine. It took me 30 years to be able to afford it and since then coming back nearly every year.
Dude, yass!
ОтветитьNice little speed run from the GOAT
ОтветитьThanks, great footage!! The sounds and the speed bring back memories of fast board-sailing on SF Bay in the late 80s. Good to see you're still at it. May you have many more years.
ОтветитьMaaaaaaaannnnnn!!!!
ОтветитьLove it
ОтветитьWhy did you speed this up?
ОтветитьFaster than the wind..what a dream...perfect water.perfect wind and even better material..
ОтветитьThat was amazing speed and control ,great to watch
ОтветитьPerfect, just the sounds water and wind. No need for any techno junk soundtrack. Beautiful, I love it!!
ОтветитьThanks a lot Robby. You make me feel more alive and I'm looking forward to going back to the water. I didn't know about unhooking when riding, we learn every day, don't we?
ОтветитьLove your input on gear choice and why you choose this setup. Soo often we get wrapped up in wanting the fastest or most efficent possible setups and overlook what we loose in doing so.
That was what happened to me in the mid 90's going to extreme on board and sail choice. Its was blazing fast but soo technical and god help you if your luff filed with water in a 6 cam sail.
I'm getting set to get back into windsurfing and no surprise I am back to watching Robby Naish to get inspired - Maholo
soooooo cool to see you flying over the water. BTW!!! 7.22 is that a huge turtle? That animal is massive =)
ОтветитьDave Sanger "The strangler" got me on a Mistral superlight in 85. He rebuilt the deck and sold me the whole rig for $200. I went shortboard and did a few trips to the gorge and then the Navy got in the way of sailing. I cant wait to get on the water where all there is in life is the dance of the wind and the waves.
ОтветитьI spent 15 years Windsurfing in the San Francisco Bay, Sherman Island (about 50 miles east of SF in Fresh Water). I began around 1980 on a Windsurfer One Design. I would also Sail overpowered just to make sure I had enough Sail area because I didn't want to stop and change sails and lose 30 minutes of time. I'm 67, body is beat up with Arthritis...I remember the good times I had sailing. It reminded me of Snow Skiing on moving Moguls.
ОтветитьThe King of the Windsurf !🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
ОтветитьSilver tape rules :)
ОтветитьI was just at Hookipa beach yesterday! Very cool watching you windsurf at Rock Star level. I'm impressed.
