Two tennis balls. The grass is always greener. 9 month brittany pup.
ОтветитьHi, thanks for the video. My problem is with my dog not wanting to give back other dogs' toy (especially balls) when we're out in the dog playground. She gives back her toy, but not others'. She's not a puppy anymore, she's a rescue dog between 2-3 and been with me for a year. Treats are not (nothing is) higher value than the ball. Could you recommend something?
ОтветитьI have owned now three dogs myself.. grow up with my father raising another 3... my grandfather my father.... and now myself have never leased my dogs unless they have done something wrong... I raise my dogs just like my family did all my life... raise them like you do children... do you give your child a piece of candy every time they do something good... of course not or you would have and over wieght child that will only do stuff for treats... so it's OK to do it with dogs... try using this method.... its really simple... THEIR NOT DOGS THERE ARE YOUR CHILDERN... treat them as such... talk to them just like you do a child and try using love an attention and thy occasional treat just like your child...
Ответитьwhenever my 2nd jack Russell buddy won't let go or do something i want i talk to my imaginary FIRST jack Russell TOTO (who passed on in 2019 age 14) and I say "oh, hello Toto, Buddy doesn't want to play anymore so would you like to play .. okay, let's go" and as soon as I start to "PLAY" with my imaginary first dog Toto Buddy drops absolutely everything to be in on the action that he THINKS he is missing, he can't resist and as crazy as it sounds it works every time 😂
ОтветитьIn English there seems not to be a difference between having an animal do as it's told (without a treat, that is called "entrenar") vs having an animal 'trade' a treat for following your commnd ("amaestrar") like they do on a circus.
Please don't give your dog a treat for a real training. That's bad advice. The dog has to obey with or without a cookie, without expectation for a cookie. Your because he trusts you that your command is good, and is going to make him good, safer and better dog.
If i were to leave my dogs leash on she would chew through it within like 2 minutes 😩
ОтветитьHi Empress i blessing to you always .MY puppy LOOK JUST liked .One YOU have there . ..I AM FROM TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹 . I WILL BE FOLLOWING YOU
ОтветитьDog trainer here, the problem with the “trade method” is you’re now teaching your dog to go get something to trade when they want a treat, you’re just making another game out of it…
ОтветитьCan my 2 year old Dutch Shepherd learn this now.?
ОтветитьGreat video and thank you so much,we have been struggling with our 6mo lab,now I see what wil work.😂❤❤❤
ОтветитьWe do this at our doggy daycare, it doesn't happen often but its such a good trick/command
ОтветитьLabs are mouthy.
Ответитьyeah, I love having my dogs trained by best buy sales associates.
ОтветитьOne of the first things I teach my pups is to 'leave it'. Covers all sorts of problems, eating rubbish, resource guarding, puppy chewing. Using this command, they can be taught not to accept 'treats Also makes dogs safer from eating toxic substances.
ОтветитьWhat do I do to get my Shih Tzu to go outside without me having To go out with them?
ОтветитьPlease can you tell me the breed of this dog in the video
Thank you inadvance
What if your dog isn't food driven. ? Thanks. I've used chicken, roast beef, etc.
ОтветитьSorry I'm late to the party, but I have a question: if your puppy already knows the "drop it" command, but still grabs things and doesn't let go in an effort to get your attention or some additional play time, what do you do?
ОтветитьHow young is too young to learn. My pup is 9 weeks old and has sit, come, and will get in her kennel on command. But theres things like nipping and hand shakes that I've been working on for about a week with near zero success. I was wondering if she is too young and wild to understand yet. I've never had a pup this young before. Other pups I've had before were 4-6 months old when I got them and seemed to pick up on things much easier.
ОтветитьSo if she wants something of higer value than she grabs a toy and doesnt let go so they get the treat ... this is useless. They are still in control
ОтветитьI tell my min schnauzer "Dead" and he drops whatever he has
Ответитьwhat treat do you use?
ОтветитьCan you teach how to whin off the treat? If I go a few commands without giving my dog a treat, she won’t obey me anymore bc she knows I got nothing 😂 I want her to be obedient and answer to commands without any 🥩 coming her way!
ОтветитьWhat treats you giving them?
ОтветитьRegarding keep a leach on, my pup keeps peeing on it
Ответитьis there a maximum treats a puppy can have in a day? i'm scarred of over feeding my puppy (it is a pug)
ОтветитьShe was saying make sure she drops it before she shows the treats, so Sonny wouldn't look at it and compare, but she was giving the treats before Sonny had dropped?
ОтветитьAny tips if the puppy is disinterested in toys to practice this as all he can smell is the treats? 😨
ОтветитьWhy so long winded...
ОтветитьI can’t really train this because my dog is very into food. As soon as I put my training bag on, he forgets about the toy and just sit there patiently waiting for food. 😢
ОтветитьI don’t see her learning the command. I see her letting one go for the other.
ОтветитьIs 2 years too late? Just adopted a 2ish year old pit mix that I am struggling with drop it.
He's food motivated and very mouthy (aka not quite able to know skin hurts so careful).
What about when the puppy just chews her leash/line?
ОтветитьIt will be wonderful if you can halp with dogs who are not puppies, that was adopted and need to learn so they will get another chance in life.. how to make a difference with older dogs that come from shelter cages .
ОтветитьWhat training treats work the best for you? Brand/flavors.
ОтветитьMy dog will think the treat name is Drop It 😒
ОтветитьAwesome video, so clear and easy to follow. Thank you !
ОтветитьGreat video as always. Serious question on behalf of other viewers though. Why is this video 14 minutes long? Thanks for your reply to my question. I’m bookmarking this video in anticipation of your response.
ОтветитьYou have great videos.
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьFor my dogs I’ve used the commands “give”, to give me something and “leave it” to stop going for something or someone. There’s also “off” to get down off of something (bed, couch etc), along with the common “sit”, “come” , “down” , “stay”, and “heel”. Our dog trainer said one word commands, where possible, are better. For some reason they also said only use their name with the “come” command. Maybe so it’s more likely to grab their attention?
ОтветитьAunty talks alot
ОтветитьYour second toy trick won't work with my puppy as I've already tried with 2 tennis balls, after the first trade she dropped the second inside a thistle Bush... yep lost that leverage
ОтветитьLiving in the country with retrievers they are taught to drop but gently standing on their front foot. Instant drop once they ve learnt.
Ответитьwhere can i get that toy?
ОтветитьIs it normal for your puppy to want to nibble on your hand if you try to pet it when it’s playing with its toy
ОтветитьI'm trying these tips with my puppy and they are helping so much! Especially swapping out one toy for another! I adore all of your videos and consider them my puppy bible! Haha
ОтветитьHow do you handle when your kids have a toy on the ground. I have younger kids and we are moving their toys upstairs. But I expect them to still play downstairs. How can I be prepared for this? We haven’t gotten our puppy yet.
