I just think back to the first movie where Holmes test his noose theory. Watson said it wasn’t in him to off himself.

Never understood why he saw Watson, then kicked off. I would have thought they could have easily taken him together.

I love RDJ but was a terrible casting for Holmes.

That awkward moment when Watson was there for assistance and he still decides to fall off the ledge. 😂

This was just a touch too epic to be the end of a second movie of the series. This should have been the conclusion of a trilogy, with a second movie in between to really draw out the conflict between Holmes and Moriarty.

Even the title "A Game of Shadows" doesn't really lend itself to being the conclusion of the story. The title suggests the game is still being played. Instead, the genius of Moriarty is resolved in just one film.

And it is an interesting parallel that in Ritchie's story, Moriarty is the one prone to overthinking and missing the obvious while in Gattiss/Moffat's version Moriarty exploits Sherlock's tendency to search for the most complicated answer.

It is quite interesting the fact that Moriarty remains the arch-nemesis of Holmes when in the literary canon he barely makes presence

If he didn't jump though, their whole little scenario would have immediately been cut shot by Watson's arrival. He would've come as backup and Moriarty would probably have been defeated then. Neither Holmes nor his nemesis could've predicted that for , but when Sherlock saw his friend, he could've given both of them a chance against their enemy.

It took me quite some time to understand what went through Sherlock mind, when he saw Watson. He knew he didn't technically have to sacrifice himself anymore, since they would probably be able to overpower Moriarty together, but he went for the suicide anyway, because on a slim chance that he was killed in the altercation and Moriarty managed to get away he knew Watson and his wife would be targeted. Which brings us to the ultimate irony here. Had Moriarty not threatened Watson, he would have probably survived, but after he did make the threat Holmes had to ensure he dies at any cost. Brilliant writing!

The point about this scene is government. We both know how that ends. Conan Doyle was using subtle satire to expose the intrinsic problems in society in the book, OK in Victorian times and pointed squarely at Empire and it's intrisic problems. The fall is merely an exposé of that. At the Reciehnbach falls two champions died. Later on Europe fell...

All the factors, the methodical strategies, and yet … neither of them could have predicted wattson presence entering the equation.. yet the look on Holmes’ face when he came out said it all.
“It’s me or us both my friend. And I choose me” 😢

It seems to me that this is some incredible nonsense, Moriarty is described as a cunning and intelligent opponent and an experienced fighter, but these sweeping, slow and completely unprofessional punches are simply ridiculous. An experienced fighter would hit Holmes with a liver-spleen-jaw combination and would stand with a sarcastic smile looking at Holmes in a heavy knockdown

Terrible ending, as soon as Watson walked in there was no need for Holmes to pull them off the cliff.

What is impressive here is the flat tone of the narrative, it then enhances the tension and drama far far more than if it was a mess of emotionally pitched dialogue that has become so common now. Sublime.

I love how we saw the final fight play out but that it didn't actually happen in real life. The final battle was saved through predictability. So detailed

I seriously need a third movie yesterday

What I love about this is it highlights the contrast between the two characters. Moriarty is a brilliant man who has the best-laid plans and one could say is even better than Holmes in this situation as in the plan they both admitted Holmes would lose. However, what Holmes had over Moriarty was the ability to adapt. Moriarty had seemingly outdid Holmes at his own game but as soon as Holmes did something unexpected and even illogical that he had not accounted for Moriarty had no idea how to react.
