Sorry I missed these, there is an advert with this video on my screen with the same set for £229 :o I picked myself up a few slazenger clubs in Sports Direct to give golf a try and even at half price almost the same price.

Back in the day Ben Sayers was a really good manufacturer

I managed to get a set of Wilson Deep red with fat shaft 5 to PW a Fazer driver and 3 wood plus bag balls fazer putter of FB 2nd hand for £40. sold yr on for £40

I used to be a manager at Aldi, a bit of context for you as to why they were reduced is that Aldi make extremely large profit margins in special buys. Although they will have lost money on that particular set you bought they will have made profit overall by making several 100% on the ones sold at full price. The reason why they are reduced is to make space for the next lot of special buys. The special buys increase footfall in the store and therefore it is important that there is adequate space for the next allotment (which happens twice a week). You were very lucky to find these as often all the good deals are bought by the staff before the public are even given a chance to get hold of them.

I agree the 2 wedges doesn't make sense - 5,7,9 and a wedge would have made more sense. I'd keep a wood and a hybrid though - they do different things.

I started with an Aldi set, way back in 2003.
Bought a 2-ball putter the year after.
Then a set of irons in 2006, GT2 undercuts.
A cleveland launcher with a green Aldila shaft in 2007 as well as a Nickent hybrid.
And when I got my handicap to around 16, I got fitted for a driver, 3-wood and hybrid, as well as a set of irons in 2011.
I then stopped playing for a few years, around 2014, life happened, and got back to playing this year, still using the same clubs.
Got my handicap back down from 36 to 13.1 this year; love my clubs, they're like my old friends.
I AM goint get ball fitted, as I think that's where the most cost effective upgrade is going to come from. ( Besides taking lessons)

I have a package set of these for years M9 Models (2014) the are great clubs, the full set back then was £250-300 RRP. I put them into storage 2018.
Last March I took them out and pimped them, tip the graphite's shaft 1inch, put decent grips on. Replaced the putter, added to was Texan wedges 52,56, 60 deg.
The driver made 250 yards 😱 3 Wood 210-220yards, 5W was 21deg so became 7w at 41inches, 4 Hybrid makes 200 yards. 5-PW = 190-125 yards.

I think you're on to a winner, it could be a big one because there's a massive gap in the market. Good luck 🤞

These sets are €449 in NL 😂 the price of golf in this country is ridiculous. I love these package sets and the reviews. They are perfect for someone who has been bitten by the golf bug and aren’t confident how much they will play or if they’ll even stick it out so much better getting into golf with these then spending £££. I’m on the hunt for a set like this for my dad who has a the most unforgiving 1970s blades and hickory woods under the stairs gathering dust. If he got a forgiving set in his hands I bet he’d get back into the game - nice video Simon as always

To add some perspective to this outrageous deal, a basic Slazenger carry bag on its own is being sold in Sports Direct for £44.99. I purchased this set out of curiosity (I needed a new carry bag in all honesty) and can confirm the bag alone is of better quality than the Sports Direct Slazenger. So, in theory for an additional £5 on the Sports Direct bag price I get 4 irons, Driver, 3 Wood and Hybrid plus a putter!! Go to be the best golf deal of all time......

How much was the lesson? I've played 4 rounds in 9 weeks, might need a serious tune up!
