Congrats on completing the theater! Re: your comment on MadVR Envy, I played with it on the software side and eventually went with a Lumagen Radiance Pro because I think it’s much better, and a third of the price. I would suggest for you the 4240 (route your inputs through your AVR and the LRP sits between that and your projector). It’s not just in the price point you mentioned, but IMHO it has better tonemapping and it’s made with an FPGA core and components that belong in a theater. It also will get you instant aspect ratio detection and switching if you ever want to move to a scope screen and does amazing upscaling. Most people haven’t heard of them because they don’t advertise, but it’s the single best piece of kit in my theater (and I say this having a Kaleidescape system). Great job!
ОтветитьDid the avm 70 work well w/ emotiva amp?
ОтветитьI agree with your thoughts on the MadVR. For your JVC example you showed the JVC NZ7, but actually the NP5 is a way better deal. Calibrate it hits the same brightness and it's much cheaper. The downside is no laser, but, you can buy a lot of bulbs for the cost difference between a NP5 and NZ7! Completely agree on aspect ratio also. That said, imo a false wall with speakers behind the screen really does make a huge sound difference, but I get that in your big room you wanted a higher gain screen. My theater is one row so brightness was easier. I only watch with my girlfriend and I, at most 3 people.
ОтветитьYour thoughts on Mad VR are entirely wrong, incomplete and misleading. It upscales, its LUTs and tone mapping are brilliant, not to mention its biggest selling point… NLS
ОтветитьExcellent setup and great video. What did you use to mount your projector?
ОтветитьWell done!!! This is one of THE best, well-considered DIY audio setups I've ever seen. Truly superb - (and all hail Audioholics and Anthony Grimani) Can I ask - are you upmixing all content to include the Front Wides using the Anthem? If so, what mode?
ОтветитьI’m considering a MadVR in my new build, but the tone mapping isn’t the main reason. I’m going with a 2.4 screen, and the MadVR can automatically and almost instantly manage aspect ratio changes, and shift the image for subtitles when needed. On a 16:9 screen it definitely seems less worth the high expense.
Ответитьhow much how much$$$$$
ОтветитьWhen you get to this level.. you're pretty detached from reality and will be the 1st to die from a zombie apocalypse. No amount of C.O.D game play will help you. Nice system tho
ОтветитьJust curious what you do for a living.
ОтветитьExcellent video!
ОтветитьNice room.
ОтветитьCongrats on your Dream HT, I am also thinking to build one, can you please suggest me with what screen size and surronf sound i should go for according to the size of my room , which is 12.5'*20'*10'...
ОтветитьGreat theater. Currently in the process of planning my own so gave me some inspiration. Do you know the brand of the racks that you are using?
ОтветитьAwesome setup. The only thing I would change would be to angle the center channel slightly upward. It’ll make a huge difference. I have the same center channel and it made a huge difference for me.
ОтветитьIt’s not finished as long as you have BRIGHT WALLS 👎 ,, can’t believe some people spend lots of money 💰 and time but ruins it with white walls in their movie theatre 👎👎
ОтветитьChange the colour of your walls to FLAT black paint and see the difference of colours & contrast, it’s like day & night 👍
ОтветитьI love the size of the screen. I love the fact that the seats are central so that the surround speakers are some way behind. So many home cinemas have the sofa against the far wall so surround speakers can only be to the sides at the same level. Confession: My home cinema has that fault because the room is too small!
Hate seeing the plugs visible. Get a nice long unit to go under the screen.
I give your cinema 9.999999999999 out of ten! fantastic.
Lucky you having a supportive wife of your home cinema hobby. I live alone, thank God and love having people coming over to watch something. I have a 100 inch screen with a Viewsonic X-10 projector. Blacks are more dark grey but it is only intrusively noticeable when I watch something like 2001, A Space Odyssey. I'm happy. Not as happy as I bet you are though!
I bought my first projector at 16, 15 years ago. This video hits so hard.
ОтветитьBeautiful room! very well done!
I Would paint the walls darker you wont regret it
I know all to well brother about the lower the volume text. Or it's to loud text. Nice build appreciate the video.
ОтветитьWhat 4 subs you got?
2 pb 3000
1 sb 2000
And what’s the fourth?
You have limits because you have a wife. Trust me I understand😂😂😂😂. Great video by the way👍🏽👊🏽
ОтветитьVery nice. Starting to plan my next home theater which is probably 2-3 years away.
ОтветитьI have never really understood this style of “Home Theater”. How often are you going to actually have 8+ people over to your house to watch a movie? Folks want to hang out (eat, drink, and talk with music in the background) when they visit a friend, not be quiet and watch movies together. All this work and expense is unjustified for more than 99% of people. If you really do the math it doesn’t make good sense. Its like spending $100 grand on a boat or RV that you use as intended only a handful of times a year, if that. Especially when the new wears off. Not being critical as its nice i just don’t see the practicality.
ОтветитьTo be fair as well, Goblet of Fire is a tone mapping nightmare— my new OLED TV with a Panasonic player with HDR optimizer can’t tonemap that movie really well, especially that ghost scene at the end.
ОтветитьExcellent home theater. Def Tech speakers can give you theater like sound at a much lower cost than those specialty speakers costing thousands of dollars each. I listened through headphones and it does sound like the director intended with deep, but clean and well defined bass.
Ответитьbeautiful....dreaming same dream have my cinema room one day,,,
ОтветитьI always had an air conditioning unit in my server room helps with keeping them cool and extending life of electronics. Amps generate a lot of heat while running a 3 hr movie show at high volumes.
ОтветитьI’m shocked you didn’t paint the screen wall black and the other walls a darker color. But really bro? You show such a nice home theater with such a horrible movie. What a sin…. lol. Btw… nice Tudor.
ОтветитьAwesome system. Thanks for sharing.
ОтветитьI like how you actually bring up the fact that budget is a real concept. People online act like having a realistic budget is a mortal sin and you should be putting every dime you make into your home theater.
ОтветитьThe Denon A1H is capable of 15 channels (15.4) also the Marantz AV10 is 15.4.
ОтветитьAmazing theater. Great job! A tip if I may...Black velvet around the front wall and a few feet out on the sidewalls and ceilings, or better yet the entire ceiling....totally worth the effort! It creates a black hole.
ОтветитьCongratulations! I feel a bit late to the party. Thank you so much for sharing this. I moved last year too and was not fortunate to move up in room size. I will live vicariously through you. We live in the real world, you’ve done a great job. Enjoy!

ОтветитьCool
I want to build a Cinema Room in the future
I don't know where to start which projector projection screen speakers receiver and acoustics I buy
But I'm researching, I'm going to buy from the cheapest to the most expensive
Brazil here
(I used Google Translate, I don't know how to speak English)
$5000 door!!!
ОтветитьGood job
ОтветитьDude......the dreaded text from the wife. Got that way too many times.
ОтветитьHELLO, JUST A LITTLE ADVISE OR THOUGHT ABOUT PAINTING YOUR WALLS. WHY NOT JUST PUT UP THIN DARK DRAPES ALONG YOUR SIDE WALLS AND A RETRACTABLE DRAPE FOR YOUR SCREEN JUST LIKE A REAL MOVIE THEATER. YOUR WALLS ARE TO LIGHT FOR A THEATER THAT IS TRUE. SAVE YOU SOME TIME AND YOU WANT HAVE TO DISCONNECT ALL YOUR SPEAKERS AND EQUIPMENT. GIVE ME YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS.
ОтветитьTo enhance the picture you need to darken significantly your wall colors in the front of the theater. Plus 3-4 meters out from the front wall, ceiling should be black aswell, the whole of it.
ОтветитьThe problem with these home theaters in their own remote caves is nobody ever goes except the hobbyist and maybe his spouse. Most of the time you’re in this room all alone. People are just too busy nowadays to go to a friend’s home to watch a movie. Even the kids have their own lives and don’t go much. That’s why I put my theater right in my living room. It’s a 7.2 soon to be a 7.2.6 Atmos with room darkening drapes. There may be some sonic compromises but honestly I can’t hear them. The surround sound envelops and my 120 inch screen immerses and the room shakes and rattles when necessary and my seating is a common comfortable recliner love seat. My equipment is in plain sight and I wouldn’t have it any other way because I like looking at it while living my normal happy life. Even if I had 7 figures to spend I wouldn’t build a dedicated room. I like the theater to be integrated closely with my life. When people come over the big screen is right there in the living room and they often want a demo and I am happy to oblige. Watched Man of Steel this evening and what a fantastic surround sound movie with action and heart. I couldn’t possibly enjoy it any more in a separated space. I think dedicated home theaters are overwhelmingly underutilized. They sound like a good idea but unless it’s your hobby, they end up like outdoor kitchens. A novelty that gets used once in a while, except for the builder who finds himself within his creation alone most of the time. Movies are enjoyed so much more when you are watching with other people who care about and can discuss films and filmmaking. I’m lucky enough to be married to one of those! We watch every film on physical media, and usually watch all or most of the special features. Then discussion ensues which even gets lively at times!
ОтветитьHow far is the screen to the middle front seat?
ОтветитьThis is why it's the best time to charge your phone because you're not using it
ОтветитьDope man.. Love that you can see the fronts
ОтветитьI'm slowly building mines up.. Arendal 1528s coming up
ОтветитьNice Rig!!
Ответитьhello…. your setup is almost exactly what i’m trying to do…
I’m trying to build a home theater room and have it as a music listening room as well.
My dilemma is this…. at 165 in the screen is exactly 12ft… when you have the left and right speakers 12ft apart… when listening to stereo music… does this make the center imaging of the sound less pronounced…
i have heard that 12 ft could
potential be diminishing the quality of the phantom center… what are your thoughts…
i’ll be sitting about 10-12ft away… and my speakers are all kef r series the front left and right being the r11..
thank you for your time
