I have been in same situation with Hachiman
when I was and junior high schooler, I confessed to a girl who always nice to me, and of course she rejected me
I became traumatic with real girls and started watching anime for years and then I found Oregairu
I really understand Hachiman and I wish I got a happy ending in romance comedy genre in real life

i watched this when i was 14 and i couldn't understand it properly.. hearing it again now after 9 years gave me freakin goosebumps and brought back memories that happened in those 9 years.

Big deal, the thing is, it's not only you who grew up. The girls/boys around u also grew up. Most teens crave attention and care too much for their image. That's why hachiman says nice girls are fakes, because all he's had are teens. Adults care less about that, so they grew out of that phase, and the genuinely nice ones only remain.
