I worked at a pizza kitchen and people who came in with gluten allergies were crazy. They would claim celiac, but there was no way of truly stopping gluten of getting to our gluten free pizzas, this is completely different. What an absolute fuck of a resultant.

Most of the reactions to this story make me feel seen. I have a soy allergy. There have been multiple occasions where customer service has straight-up lied to me or not checked for allergies, and I've had a reaction because of their negligence. In one instance, I went to a bakery with the allergens on the label. I bought a sandwich to eat at work and had a reaction so bad I had to go home. A coworker had the audacity to say, "What did we learn? Don't trust anyone with your food." Like, excuse me if I don't want to prep every meal for myself. I shouldn't be taking a chance on my meal if I have been reassured by the cashier and the food label. Even worse, we worked in the food-industry, so that apathetic coworker that said don't trust people with your food, handles food.

Arbitration = scam. There has to be a new law.

When you cancel your subscription, your contract is null and void. A trial subscription lasts what 14 days? If they didn't continue with a subscription they were no longer subject to comply with the contract since the contract ended after the conclusion of said contract. I always decline any arbitration clauses in employment contracts.

Pokemon go recently updated its terms and conditions, and they pretty much say that if you pay for something, like a ticket to play in a certain event, and they just so happen to cancel it, there will be no compensation. Also they have stated that you can't sue them, and that they are practically god at this point, all unless you opt out of an arbitration agreement within the first month of accepting the terms and conditions. It is truly fucked up, but luckily for me, since I am not an adult yet, it means nothing if I agree to the terms and conditions.

US people like the complain about the "over regulation" in the EU but at least here that shit won't fly because we have the protection against such clauses. Consumer protection agencies are a real thing here and not those fabled unicorn your parents told you about as a good night story.

In my area a radio station did a contest when the Wii was first released and limited release. The contest was "Hold your wee for a Wii" The person who held back from dropping out and not peeing would win. The contest went on for hours and the person who dropped out in 3rd place died. Callers were saying that it was dangerous but the DJs said everyone signed waivers.

It's not a money issue, it's a PR issue. They don't want to submit to this sorts situation because itll make them look bad and thus make their park seem less accommodating for allergens and whatever/they don't care. More of employee f up, but yeah they shouldn't be like "Nah bro you signed up 5 years ago for whatever or something" lmao like screw off.

As someone with severe egg and nut allergies, as well as many other food intolerances, this makes me so incredibly scared, upset and downright mad at this whole situation.

As I’ve had these allergies throughout my whole life, I’ve constantly had to make sure that the restaurants or pubs I go to for food have great protocols for helping people with allergens, so I absolutely won’t be going to any Disney affiliated restaurants ever (not that I was planning on doing that anyway) as it seems they have some protection that shouldn’t even be applicable to the terms of service of the TV license.

And it absolutely isn’t a “gamble” with checking allergens - it’s a way of life for everyone with allergies to ensure they don’t die. I’m so upset, but also not entirely surprised, that there’s people on the Internet who think that it’s a gamble and that it’s the person’s fault for not checking hard enough - they have no choice but to check extensively and to have the assurance that the food won’t kill them.

Stay safe everyone - and if you can’t be sure that the food doesn’t contain your allergens (or if the restaurant chain or ownership has some terms of service that stop you from suing them for allergen issues) then don’t eat it! It’s never worth the risk!
