Excellent distro, but I didn't like two things about it. Verh high ram usage even in idle (3+ Gb) and the fonts in all applications.

Jay what app do you use on Pop OS to RDP into Windows boxes? I have been using Remmina but it crashes all the time now.

I'm enjoying pop os and I like more than windows 11. I have logitech speakers plugged in for audio. Pop Os is faster windows 11 and updates don't take forever.

Thank you Jay, great job, as always I learn something new when I watch your videos. Ques: When you get an 'Firmware Update Notification' is there a way to check what Firmware is being referred to before installing? My concern is that I don't run Windows & don't want windows Bios Secure Boot updates installed.
As for POP_OS I'm loving the tiling & keyboard short cut learning experience. New to tiling and fell in love with it in antiX Now looking forward to becoming proficient with Proxmox & Virt Manager going to install ARCO Extended on Proxmox.

I was running Ubuntu 20.04 on an older Think Pad X230 tablet with no issues. I upgraded to the latest version of Ubuntu and a big mistake. I'm now having keyboard issues, occasional wifi and bluetooth drop out issues. I'm to the point or either going back to the older version or going with Pop OS.

Might be something to do in the future since I've been referred to this channel to learn stuff, but if you mention things like "autotiling, desktop integration" I have no idea what that even is.

The problem I have with Pop OS is that it wont install on my old workstation laptop with an old Quadro fx2800m
I downloaded the Nvidia version of Pop OS but it just get stuck with a black screen with a cursor blinking in the top left corner.
I heard something about the drivers for this old card have been removed from different repositories.
It's an older driver from 300 series. Kind of sad that I can't run the latest versions of Linux on this fully functional computer.
So much e-waste these days.

if it needs commands to delete files on a drive, its junk.
in fact, all linux distros are like that. Cant delete file without hacking.
Cannot follow any once help because some package is missing which i cannot install without internet.
Cannot simply download program and plug it into USB port and install. Does not work like that.

I returned to UBUNTU Budgie, although with regrets. POP has the perfect DE. However, I received a regular dose of white screen of death. Contact the system administrator it tells me. That's me. Fix the crashes and System 76 has a fine Debian distro.

One big problem...You have a one in three chance of getting a usable screen resolution with POP. But so far, everything using the new Ubuntu kernel is junk.

Kinda kicking myself for going with Ubuntu 22.10 when my kids crashed everything a week ago. I was running KDE Neon, and I freaking love Neon, but I couldn't find my usb drive I had it on and I had another that had Ubuntu 22.10 on it already. I just spent several days getting all my stuff back up and going, but I wish I had been able to go with Pop!_OS or another KDE distro again. I'm not sure I'm ready to dump everything again and load Pop!_OS, maybe over spring break in a week or two.

I just have never gotten any WIndows games or my Windows Video editor to run under any linux.
Other than that, Linux is great if all your run is tons and tons of Firefox open windows... which I do.. but I also need a few other Windows apps. Sticking with Widows 7. I've been running microcore linux on my webserver though for like... 15 years now. Maybe if they got rid of Gnome and went with KDE or made it look and behave more like WIndows XP or WIndows 7 which are super comfortable user environmetns to work in it would be more popular. Get that Sleep feature working.

It's just too much of a hassle for me to try and get Sony Vegas and Paintd0tnet and Steam and OBS studio and my favorite few games to run under it. I don't want to have to fight with the OS allt he time.

Whatever happened to Enlightenment..? I'd rather run than Cosmic or whatever. Enlightenment was wild. It just crashed a lot and you lost everything open. DIdn't matter if the OS shellprompt and kernel were fine, if Xwindows died, you lost all your open work and windows.

As a blind person, I don't want a distro that reinvents itself with every new release (like Windows... what a nightmare) but one that gets it right the first time and sticks with it forever, and then just fixes found ugs thereafter, but otherwise changing nothing. Just get it right and stick with it. If users find a bug, fix it.

Following up with the comment I posted below. The reason my computer keeps powering back up is because pop shop is "updating" in the background. I figured this out during a shut down where I let the computer time out. The so-called techs didn't even figure this out, they sent me a new power cord instead. Anyhow, the funny thing about pop shop updating itself is that's been one of my issues with this os. I rarely use pop shop, and it shouldn't be automatically updating. Remind anyone of windows?

I have been using Pop on and off for the last couple of years and its always my OS of choice. Ive tried distro hopping and Ive tried going back to Winblows and nothing seems to be able to beat this OS. I always end up going back to Pop. Youd think I would have learned after the 1st couple tries... Pop!_OS is a masterpiece of an operating system, I just hope the new Cosmic DE will be just as perfect.

I am a big fan of your channel - keep up the great work!
I have just tried Pop OS on a new laptop that already has ubuntu 22 and mint 21. Most installs give an option to install "alongside" existing os's - but not Pop OS. I was afraid I borked my previous installs but managed to recover my grub loader by installing mint again. All is good now and Pop OS looks to become my new fav OS! Installing multiple OS's is confusing for noobs like me so you might consider a segment focused on that. Anyway - best wishes for a fabulous New Year!

POP OS is crap. I sent my computer back in to Syst 76 after the system turned itself back on after a power down, and the so-called techs did nothing to fix the problem. Now I have to make 3-5 attempts at powering off before it will finally shut down. Something in the OS is causing this. Very sloppy.

I've been using PopOS for quite some time now, maybe 3 years. The lasts versions of PopOS has worse quality than before. I've noticed everything has something to do with remote folders (davs, nextcloud, samba, etc) has very poor integration with GUI and working with files there is dangerous. I had important losts of information working with popOS and remote folders and i can no longer recommend it. I dont know if its an issue with ubunto more than with popOS anyway. But remote folders work worse than before and i am heavily dissapointed.

I wonder how it compares with other Ubuntu distros.

I use Ubuntu Mate specifically, but had the same annoyances with Firefox and Snap. I thought I configured it properly, but Firefox still manage to auto update behind my back, ruining my session. Worst, perhaps due to my workarounds, Firefox auto updated to an older version (from 106 to 105). So my bookmarks, extensions and browsing history were not transferred.

If Firefox acts up disrespectfully again, this would be good bye Ubuntu.
