Tribute to Jerry Herman

We ended the year 2019 with a deep loss for the Broadway community with the passing of Jerry Herman. A gentle giant of melody, he gifted us with scores that held the most beautiful message that the musical theatre can give: to live life at its fullest. He lifted his audiences with his credo that they should leave the theatre after seeing a show of his feeling better than when they had come in. The 1960s saw him create some of the Broadway musical's most enduring pieces, and after persevering in years of doubt in the 1970s he came back by giving many the words with which to say, "I am what I am."
His art touched the lives of people across the world for over six decades, and will continue to do so for many years to come. To paraphrase his words, he'll [always] be here, tomorrow, and never go away.
