Do you edit on mute? There's a lot of non-talking portion that has breathing. It's probably because of where the mic is, but it sure sounds like you are breathing heavily.

For slugs, all you have to do is put a little dish or I use an aluminum pan with beer in it and put it next to whatever plant it’s eating. Slugs love to go to the beer and they will drown. My grandfather used to work for the Brooklyn botanic Gardens and he taught me lots of little tricks like that.

I freeze cilantro directly and it’s wonderful also in fresh dishes! I freeze all herbs and the flavour is just as fresh! I freeze basil, parsley, cilantro, sage, chive, thyme etc.

Harvest-time is so exciting! I harvested scapes from my shallots and elephant garlic a few weeks ago, then pulled them a couple of days ago (November plantings). I had some in scrambled eggs. Delicious. 😋

Beautiful flowers! I envy your climate! This winter was a bad one, weather alternated from very mild to very cold, back and forth again. That resulted to ice under the snow towards the ground in many places and for me almost all of my sown garlic froze and rotted, now I have only 11...11!!!...garlics growing. I am so sad because garlic is very important for me to have, we love garlic. Extreme warm weather for 3 weeks in May and after that rain, thunder, strong wind and 59F, just startin to plant outside but nothing thrives with 41-50F at night (well, maybe the cabbage). Now I keep my fingers crossed för att warm autumn and hope for a good foraging harvest for berries and mushrooms! Have a pleasant week y´all!

I freeze cilantro when I have extra from the store and it freezes terribly lol. I only use it in one dish currently and that's a puerto rican rice dish so I definitely agree that it works best frozen in cooked dishes.

Ive been growing music hardneck garlic organically for 7 years. If you miss a scape...let it flower and create seed that is acclimated to your garden
I grow those tiny seeds in large planters and replant them until they are a respectable size...about 3 years. One head gave about 200 seeds. It saved me last year when i was hit by root maggots in my garlic bed. My third year garlic was ready to replace the bigger ones. Of course i changed my bed location and let it go dormant. No roots, no food for the baddies. Im having an incredible harvest this year. Happy growing!

You’re garlic is stunning! I overwintered mine but I think I put it in too early, nothing is happening. I’ll let it go another year and see what happens. The only garlic I have is volunteers from last year. 😢. Lots of storms here in the Midwest but so far, the garden is hanging on.

Have you ever tried growing cilantro during the winter? I have heard of people overwintering it without protection in zone 5a where it gets to be -20F and your climate is much warmer so I figure it wouldn't be an issue at all.

I love spinners. I pick up nearly every one I find for a good price at thrift stores and garage sales, although I'm not out shopping that much. Anyway, they are so handy to leave my salad green ls in, berries, other cut fruit or veggies etc... anything I don't want sitting in it's juice or water while in the fridge or even on the table while serving.

If I have extras and someone is over and does not have one then I may even send them home with one which is kinda like a $30 gift so they feel so special and fancy now! 😊

Those little ones are so cute too!

I use my salad spinner to wash as well as dry: I put my greens in the double basket & fill it all the way up with cold tap water. Then I spin it 20 times or so and remover the inner basket and pour out the water left behind. Then I do this a 2nd time (if you see sand or bugs in the water, you can do it 3 or more times.) Then I put the inner basket back in and spin it to dry it as much as possible. Works great!

You could also do the same thing with the cilantro as the garlic scapes...make a paste with oil. It stays good for a long while in the fridge.

How do you pronounce the word Herbs?
Do you say it erbs or herbs?
I'm genuinely curious,.I always find it fascinating how we call things different names or use different pronunciation

Becky, I am so glad you did this video on the garlic scapes. I did my first harvest of the scapes in my greenhouse and I was pulling my hair out. I tried drying them and they were hard as rocks. It never occurred to me to freeze them. I have a second round coming from the garlic in the raised beds and I was already feeling the anxiety about loosing them all. Tomorrow, I can go out to the garden, harvest them, turn them into a paste and freeze them. Thank you.
