Which film do you like better? Shutter Island, Fight Club, Angel Heart, Psycho, the Machinist or Jacob's Ladder. They're all equally great.

Cognitive Dissonance, Amnesia, Dissociative Identity Disorder and Compartmentalized Memory. Having to be validated to know you exist and know who you are. David Lynch and Alfred Hitchcock took on such concepts. This was a really smart take on the Psychology Thriller.

Didn't Martin Scorsese apologize for the film or something? The reality is, I believe it to accurately depict mental illness. This is how it is when you have amnesia and dissociative identity disorder from trauma, you black out and form a new identity. Your memory is compartmentalized and you can only get it back, when you go back to the place the trauma occurred.

This book is based on the novel "Shutter Island" by American crime novelist "Dennis Lehane". Other film adaptations of his novels are "Mystic River" and " Gone Baby Gone". These movies are equally good.
