Í do ok until I use the yellow ultra fine , seems like it's doing nothing , any ideas ? Thks
ОтветитьSeems the price has doubled or tripled 😭
ОтветитьGood on u for recycling knives because someone else has no idea how to sharpen it. Used knives are best way to learn with as u don't feel so bad if u didn't get it right the first time and the fact you didn't pay full retail for a knife is even better
ОтветитьAnyone know if this system is alright for larger kitchen knives?
ОтветитьToo much talking.
Ответитьyour like my Mom on sharpening, please stop :P
ОтветитьChewbacca doesn’t like the way you removed your arm hair!
ОтветитьMaximum length of a blade recommended to use the lansky? 5.5 inch long blade too long?
Ответитьthx a lot
ОтветитьThe clamp is also getting sharpened 😅
Ответитьdan it's been 4 years, and still thankful for how informative this video is. as I'm watching the comments that float up while watching, just disappointed in humanity with how much douchery is present. so many shitty comments, for what? creating a high production video with detailed explanation? didn't know that the edge lords dwelled in the knife sharpening shadows but maybe i should have. thanks for the video man. sorry the neck beards are such dicks on the Internet
ОтветитьThis is the most helpful knife sharpening video I’ve watched. Thanks bud!
ОтветитьTry Rockstead’s recommendation of strop made with denim and electron microscope lens polish called Pikal. It’s amazing for the zdp189 edge, but also seems to do ok for my other knives with m390 and magnacut
ОтветитьThis was Meyer Lansky’s knife sharpener of choice
ОтветитьYou taught this lesson well.
ОтветитьI just found this video today. I purchased the Deluxe Lansky System with more stones and the ceramic hone. I love it but needed to really learn the best way to use it. This is by far the best tutorial out there. Even Lansky's own video is lacking. THANK YOU!!!
ОтветитьI need it foolproof
ОтветитьJust ordered my Lansky system because of this tutorial, Thanks man!
ОтветитьGood vid. I've used a Lansky for probably 35 years now and there is no turning back. ONLY little issue I have is that the screw holding the rod backs out easily. I used the SLIGHTEST hint of Loctite on the screw and it stopped it.
ОтветитьWhere and how do we purchase the used knife you spoke of?
ОтветитьTo the beginners, get yourselfs a stone that you have to find the eadge by hand once you can free hand sharpening then move to this system itll you show you what your looking for this kit is to get a perfect edge so you can get a razor sharp finish mind you if you get really good at sharpening free handed you can still get a razors sharp finish doing it free handed me myself i use 70 grit then i move to a 250 then 500 then 1000 4 stones and i can get the same end result free handed
ОтветитьA QR code to this video should be in the manual ngl
ОтветитьIm a newb to sharpening. I was sharpening a knife with a Lansky fixed multi angle. It had a very pronounced clip edge type of curve to it. While sharpening, it developed a sort of flat spot on the curved part. Anyone know why that may have happened? Thanks 👍
ОтветитьWill all steels form a burr? I sharpened one side of my knife for an hour and it never formed a burr that I could feel. Does it just take a really long time with high end steel?
ОтветитьNo matter what video no one ever says how u find out what angle u need for a knife
ОтветитьI was about to make an amazon order, thought "what else do I need?" and remembered I wanted a proper sharpening system that makes it foolproof, cause the cheap garbage stone I bought before was trash (don't ever trust amazon reviews). Clicked your links so you get some kickbacks from the whole order. Hope this works better.
ОтветитьI know this video is 3 years old but maybe you could answer a question. I'm getting into home butchering my own cattle for personal consumption, so knife use and sharpening are going to get real important very quickly. Since the Lansky rods are short and some of my knifes are long, I was thinking of using welding rods instead of the Lansky supplied rods. The welding rod itself, minus the coating, is pretty stiff stuff and I was thinking it would allow me to use the Lansky system on much longer knives. Your thoughts??
ОтветитьMany other systems are a lot better. Kme, Wicked Edge, TSProf.
ОтветитьTrump really nailed China with those tariffs 😂
ОтветитьQuick and to the point (no pun intended). Thank you.
ОтветитьTried this for my kitchen knives and it didn't work. This is only suited for short knived and it's relatively unsafe. In the end my completely dull knife was a little sharper than before but nowhere sharp enough to use for cooking. I slipped when sharpening the tip of my knife (since there are no safety measures at all) and stabbed myself quite deeply in my hand. Also I'm not sure about the quality of the grindstones. Not sure which level of roughness the grindstone was, but for one of them it felt like my knife was grinding away the grindstone without anything happening to the knife.
ОтветитьDo you have to sharpen the theet part
ОтветитьHow did I never see this channel before? My favorite G's
ОтветитьDad swears by this kit, he just uses honing steel to freshen up the kitchen knives but he used to be a butcher and is actually a really skilled sharpener, whether it’s on a stone or with this
But I’m using it right now on my balisong blade and the blades only like 2cm wide so if I have it on any angle other than 30, the stones hit the clamp thing
Also I noticed you’re doing it freehand, it is so much more painless if you’ve got a vice to put one side of the clamp in
Great video explaining things brother! I use the Lansky mount and I C-clamp it to the edge of my island in my kitchen and go to town on all knives in my kitchen! lol we have NO dull knives in our kitchen! 😂
ОтветитьGreat video. I'm getting inundated with advertisements for the Horl sharpening system. Which for kitchen knives might be great. But I own this Lansky setup already. Thanks for the reminder on how to use it.
ОтветитьSo very thankful for your content. I detest dull knives and have tried so many other systems. My dad used the Lansky system since I was a kid (haven’t been a kid for MANY decades!). You explained the technical details, and I’m excited to try them! Thank you!!!!!🎉
ОтветитьI don’t feel a burr does that mean am I doing it wrong?
ОтветитьIve been practicing sharpening my own knives for about 3 years now, and you have now taken my knife game to a whole new level. Your Method using the Lansky Sharpening System is better and more effective than what the instructions say, Now my stubborn knives that are harder to sharpen are razor sharp all the way down the blade evenly. Literally shaved off even stubble on my arm. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
ОтветитьI like the quality of your set, I ordered one off amazon and it looks like they completely cut the quality since this video was made.
ОтветитьThank you. You literally took me from ruining my edge with this kit to razor sharp in about 20 minutes. Best tutorial I have ever seen!
ОтветитьIf you own a kershaw Launch 13 knife,Does Not Work with this setup, cause the blade isnt flat
ОтветитьVery much informative video bro😇
ОтветитьGay
ОтветитьReally gay
Ответитьlove it works great. just the right size
ОтветитьPhenomenal vid.....however, doesn't the diamond need water to clean as opposed to the other stones needing the oil?
ОтветитьGreat tutorial. Thank you very much 🙏
