“Learn how to fight, so you don’t have to fight”
ОтветитьBut, can you eat haggis?
Ответить"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today." Love it!
ОтветитьGreat words! Just as that statement stick with you it will stick with me.
ОтветитьThank you so much for this.
ОтветитьI’m a soon to be 43 yr old man. I am 5’8” and under 140 lbs. Is it too late for me to start this art and are there any gracie academies near akron/stow, Ohio?
ОтветитьVery wise words. Thank you.
ОтветитьAmazing how everybody’s story about starting jiu-jitsu could be made into a movie (or at least a series episode). There’s a huge emotional aspect to those stories, that immediately makes us relate to them. Great stuff!
ОтветитьHi .. Love your videos.. I'm 62 years old & in Great Shape Jogging, Swimming, Yoga , Cali, Gymnastics. Kicking Punching...I train 6 days a week ... am I TOO OLD to Start Jiu Jitsu ???
ОтветитьAlong with wrestling or judo it will change your life. U need to get your opponent to the ground. A friend of mine is a purple belt close to brown. Makes me feel like a kid when we roll. But he cant takedown much, which would make his jits so much less successful in an actual fight.
Ответитьwish this COVID would go away, so i can get Jiu Jitsu in my life.
Ответить" the person who leaves today could beat the person who walked in"... not true at all. one day is not gonna teach you anything.... takes hours and hours of mat time to develop muscle memory.
Ответитьwhere in ohio?
ОтветитьI needed to hear this so I make it to my 3rd class this week. I’m physically and mentally exhausted
ОтветитьIf you clinch an average Joe, they have no clue what the fuck to do, much less get out of it. They’ll for sure know what knees and elbows feel like though💪🏾
ОтветитьThis is FANTASTIC! Pure GOLD!
ОтветитьLol how can I learn jiu jitsu now when covid fucks it up ?
ОтветитьI wish i would learn it early to i. I never really believed in stuff without strikes, but i did not train to be good at self defends i Just wanted to have fun. I liked to fight but doesnt want to be anyones enemy or anything like that. So i quit the karate and quit tae kwon do to, i found my place in kickboxing and it made me feel confident that my shit would work evrrytime because i saw the results rigth in the beginning, i grew up in the wrong place and when it was figths it went very fast, most figths ended before they really broken out it goes really fast, most ending with the first strike i hated it i really wish thst that violence would stop but it didnt before it ruined my future. I kicked in the door to the handicap toilet in school to stop a gang rape for the second time. That was my last day at school in my life. No schools would have me, even its the law here that everyone gets an education and every one join the military. So the need to have self defends for one enemy isolated i didnt think that would be practical. Now im in that age that makes sports a lot harder my mucsles Just doesnt last thst Long anymore, now energy level sink every year no matter training. That scares the crap out of me. The run option getting weaker and weaker i dont want to run i want to stop the situation without having to strike you because its fucking expensive in my country even its self defends because i cant hit you harder than you hit me, No matter that you have a knife asking for my wallet as SOON as the criminals etc are lnocked out im getting arrested for using Too Much force, its absolutely insane. Jitsu can make it without really doing damage. I dont think i really have to be very good at it as Long as you getting the concept of ffames and leverage, ill put three days in hip escape and a large instructor that weigth more than myself. We used it for warming up some times, but we arent told that anything is wrong or anything like that, because its a kickboxing gym. Maybe twice a year we learned one or two moves, we arent supposed to be good at it because we Just wrestle each other like Kids until our mucsles are warm then we kicking and boxing. So very low level, but trying to get to choke each other thats what we are trying to do, Just without learning the rear naked choke first or anything Else exept very short demonstration. So without being interested before getting the concept, slowly learned a very little bit of Jitsu Just enough to know that i should have known about This rigth from the kindergarden about the time i took my profile picture
ОтветитьI’d like to point out how open minded were the Tkd black belts! They genuinely wanted to test their own training that they spent years on and accepted that it had serious holes in it. True black belts!
ОтветитьI have just started Jiu Jitsu, this is the main reason why I am going to stick with Jiu Jitsu now.
Ответитьreally connected with the message. Practicing for eleven years now. I remember this incident, I was having lunch with my dad at a food court. I was checking out some stalls and some thug thought I was staring at him. He approached me and started to act tough. First thing I did was de-escalate and create my space, hands up near my hips saying I do not want trouble. If he came closer I would do what my coach taught, the same hands shoot for a double and take the guy down so my left leg was in position too. But I kept saying I don't want any trouble and he walked away feeling tough and I smiled thinking I could have sent you to a hospital if you entered my space:)
ОтветитьI love how positive he is.
ОтветитьHow is your mustache even possible?
ОтветитьMy problem is i didnt start jiu jitsu until 30 im just now getting started and way behind i feel like ill be too old to use it in self defense by the time i get to brown or black belt
ОтветитьMesmerized by the beard
ОтветитьThanks for the words
ОтветитьThank you 🌻
ОтветитьHe can credit ‘my Scottish ancestors’ all he likes for the beard but my money is on JuiJitsu being good for your hormones.
ОтветитьI clicked on the video thinking his face was just a photoshopped thumbnail
ОтветитьI have been practicing different stand up styles for 11 years now. (Kenpo, kickboxing, kyokushin karate) and has just started doing bjj. I couldn't necessarily beat / submit guys after the 3 sessions I had. I have managed to submit my training partners (other white belts) 3x but they are beginners too. Maybe I am just a slow learner. However I love this
ОтветитьHi Love your Vids... Should a BJJ Gym have a Curriculum??
ОтветитьShould BJJ GYMS Have a CURRICULUM ????
ОтветитьWhat a great beard
ОтветитьSo eloquently spoken.
ОтветитьReally nice post thank you. I earned a black belt in taekwondo at 37, now I’m a white belt in Brazilian jujitsu at 72. Having a great time, meeting some awesome people and even learning some BJJ.
ОтветитьBJJ stood out to me when I met my gf and she told me about it and that she is good in it (purple belt). I never heard of it. She told me to try to hold her down, and I couldn't. Not only could I not hold her down, but I was kinda scared for my safety lmao. Also, she's 100 pounds just over 5 ft. I'm 6'3, 165. Impressed me!
ОтветитьIn just 6min this message is so inspirational. Thank you Sir
ОтветитьI am 42 years old. 1 year ago that started my jiujitsu journey with already 4 competitions behind my back in 12 months.... I LOVE IT!!! BJJ4life! Ossss!!! It's never late!!!
ОтветитьGreat Video! Im 61. Still strong and athletic with a belly. Just started training in a great BJJ academy. Great energy, great instructors. The immediate learning curve is somewhat intimidating since I dont know anything. But, everybodies helpful while also pushing me. I just "roll" with it and I love it.
Ответить💯 the time to go is now.
ОтветитьGreat video, I can relate to a lot what you said, thank you!
Ответитьthat beard is enough to thwart any attack! Especially the stash, bada$$ery right there :-) OSS
ОтветитьNgl, that is an awesome beard...jealous
ОтветитьLegend has it that this man’s facial hair is so tough it can only be trimmed with a cutting torch.
ОтветитьI never get into fight but I love the look of Japanese jujitsu and really never liked the look of BJJ - rolling on the floor. But see martial artist on utube say JJJ is not that effective in real life, part reason is it’s not pressure tested like BJJ boxing etc, but partner holds out arm and falls etc. Do you think it’s effective on street etc or for self defence? Hope so as I love the look of it
Actually, are you talking about BJJ OR JJJ??
Great message, thank you.
ОтветитьThis video has two great qualities. It's deeply insightful and straight to the point. Thank you and I wish you well.
ОтветитьIt’s right bullying, so aliens don’t take over our Creed. And crying like you know what…
Ответитьi trained 4 year lockwrestiling and littlebit boxing and kicking and it got me only more anxious not more confident i surely know average persons are way too delusional they think they can fight off course accidents coud happen jail sentence is possible
Ответить
