I like the Les Paul Specials, because I love that round singing tone of the neck P90 driven hard. Plus the extra nice touches like the binding feel a bit nicer. And the double P90 pickup against a TV Yellow body is a great aesthetic.

I decided a little while back to just have juniors. So far so good.

Like you I love the P-90. I’ve upgraded many to Lollars, He makes the best ones. I have an example of the much maligned Gibson 2016 LPjr that now has a Lollar P90 and his CC in in the neck. It’s now a magic guitar. My Epi Casino Coupe has a pair of low output Lollars and it’s great. I have several more, my latest is a Brian Ray SG in white Fox and it’s nice too. Out of 16 guitars I only have one Gibson with humbuckers and only one fender.

I have one of the 1958 custom shop double cut TV yellow ones and THIS is what I was expecting it to sound like but it sounds NOTHING like this. Whyyyy?

It’s way bassier and muddy. NOT at all what I was expecting from a P90. What am I doing wrong? I use a Vox amp.

One of those straight into a Fender Deluxe or Princeton at 9 and using the Vol and tone on the Guitar . You are right, the Les paul special P90 tribute for under 1k is a bargain, just put an aluminium Faber on it and you will get that sound.

60 hz hum and crappy intonation what's not to love. I'll stick with my Les Paul's.

I have always prefered the dot neck and P-90s. I just wish Gibson would drop the baseball bat thick neck. There is no reason to continue that part of vintage. I always wanted a Jr. with the slim taper neck like on the Specials. I have a Special, but never use the neck pickup, it's full time on the bridge pickup and no midle position either.

So much love for my Eastman Jr with Lollar that I'm gonna to put some hambucker sized p90 and maybe a wraparound bridge (its easy?) on my les Paul to get closer to my Jr...

Build one. I built an SGjr kit from Precision Guitar Kits. It's just a matched neck and body, so you get to choose finish and all components to your desires. As good or better than a Gibson, if you know what you are doing. It's my favorite at the moment.

Les Paul Jr. is just a fantastic guitar. I've just gotten my hands on the 2020 Lukas Nelson '56 signature. Incredible.

I've ALWAYS wanted one, I did own a 67 Gibson SG Jr and OH hell yes.....she was a KILLER! Love that single plastic P - 90 drilled into a plank of mahogany, surely a ROCK MONSTER.....❤

Replaced 80% of my humbuckers with GFS Mean 90's. Done with HB fizz and compression. Epiphone is the smarter buy if you don't need Gibson on the headstock.

Have a custom shop 57 junior reissue and it's officially awesome! I regularly do gigs with it plugged straight into a Marshall Studio Vintage with a 2x12 cab. No overdrive pedals, boosts or any such stuff, just use the volume and tone controls on the guitar and it can cover pretty much anything.

For hard rock there is no equal to a single cut p90 jr. everything else I use a tele
