You dont pay a penalty if you pull your money from a Roth IRA as long as its the contribution and the account has been open for 5 years. Trad IRA is penalized when you pull it out just like 401k.

Great insurance information! My only alternative to what was proposed is that you if you have a whole life policy, don’t borrow FROM the cash value. Instead, you borrow AGAINST the cash value by taking out a loan from your policy with the death benefit serving as the collateral. This allows the cash value to remain in the policy to grow. Never borrow food from your own grocery store! Pay for the food. Thus, if you have $50k in cash value and you give yourself a $30k loan, not only can you dictate the repayment terms but you also secure the balance via your death benefit if you happen to die before completing your repayment versus having to pay it out of pocket. For example, if you have a $1M policy and have $20k of repayment remaining on a loan you gave yourself, your death benefit reduces $20k leaving your beneficiaries with $980k. This strategy is what the R. Nelson Nash Institute teaches using the “Infinite Banking Concept” based on Austrian Economics.
