Why not review Angel's offensive rebounds to see how many came off her own misses? It's counter-intuitive that her offensive rebounds often exceed defensive boards. Stat padding should not be rewarded if the numbers bear it out.

One of the things not talked about is the Fever first 11 games was in 20 days. Which means they could not have a single practice in that time. Just film days. After that when they have had time to practice, they have been getting a lot better.

You can spin it however you want . There's 3 All stars on that team, not one. Boston and Mitchell have taken turns with Clark as far as having impact games are concerned. Caitlin is averaging 15.5 points less per game than what she was averaging in college. Her assist count is good but it still doesn't make up for such a large slide in her points production. At the end of the day she's playing with 2 other All stars and has the same win % as Reese and her team with only one game in hand now.

Kudos to you HOOPS TONIGHT! 👏👏👏🙌🙌 You have shown that Skip Bayless, Shawn Johnson, Stephen A., Chinney "The Viper" Andraya, Ms. Nutty McNutt, Ms. Ogunbake (?), UConn's Geno, coaches Reeves and Witherspoon and Hammon, almost all of the ESPN and mainstream media analysts and sportswriters are IGNORANT and INCOMPETENT. You deserve to be hired as analyst by these mainstream media.

You are right about that. The Fever's offense is on C.C.'s shoulder. Without her, their offence will be in chaos. The success of the team is because of her play making ability. The opponent's defense on her also helps since her teammates will be open once they collapse on her.

Hmmm. I'll make this brief and not go into the turnovers, or that assists are a stat that takes two, or the defense. I'll just take each of their most notable achievements.
Clark got a triple-double. The first rookie ever. Okay, that's pretty good. After all, triple-doubles are rarer then double-doubles and how rare an achievement is to get shouldn't be undervalued, right?
Reese(currently) has 13 consecutive double-doubles. The only one--rookie or vet--to achieve this. The only one. No one who has ever been in the W in its existence has accomplished this. That's pretty rare when one stands alone over an entire leagues history.

AR not as disruptive defensively as you said. She only has 7 blocks on the season, that’s low for a big in her position. For context, CC has 17 blocks as a guard. She’s a good player and a good contributor but not exactly a disruptive defender. I think teams are more worried about the other big rookie Cordoza when they play the Sky, from what I’ve seen when watching Sky games.

Excellent commentary, HT. BTW, an interesting SI / K. Kloster article, July 10, if I may (below).

On the phenomenal attention being garnered in the WNBA as a direct result of the CC Effect:

Caitlin Clark Is Very Popular, Not Very Divisive, per Study

Caitlin Clark has a 66 percent positive impression, putting her on par with some other basketball stars.

The Caitlin Clark takes have cooled off in recent weeks as she's gone about the business of acclimating to the WNBA and getting the Indiana Fever in position to compete for a playoff spot. But for a while there, they were flying fast and furious and oftentimes had to include Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese as a Magic Johnson-Larry Bird type rivalry was being soft-launched. Along the way Clark earned the label of being controversial or polarizing even as she did everything she could to not take the bait or add much fuel to the fire.

So where do we stand 24 games into her rookie season, as she's risen to be one of the biggest storylines in all of sports? A new study from National Research Group canvassing over 1,000 self-described sports fans suggest that Clark is not, in fact, polarizing at all. Her numbers, crunched and translated by the Sports Business Journal, suggest she's bordering on being universally liked. And that the media's coverage of Clark has made her an even more sympathetic figure.

66% have an overall positive impression of Clark (just 4% negative). That is better than NBA players such as Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Jayson Tatum and Kevin Durant (she’s tied with Nikola Jokic, and just below Steph Curry and Luka Doncic).

72% who follow Clark say that they sympathize with her because of the press attention she’s received (60% say the media treats her unfairly). Another 41% have seen coverage of Clark’s rivalry with Reese, or stories about jealousy toward her from other WNBA players.

This is merely one study. And there will be so many more to come in Clark's career. Yet it does feel a bit instructive that Clark is enjoying overwhelmingly positive attention. Because there are a significant amount of people operating in bad faith trying to convince the public that she's reviled or the mainstream media is either too hard too soft on her.

All that's happening, through all the noise, is a very popular player growing more popular with more exposure. It's what we've suspected has been going on but there's finally some hard data to back that feeling up."

There will be other players with triple doubles this season including Angel Reese
Realistically Caitlin’s performance is not upstaging Angel’s except in high percentage of turnovers and 3 of 10 of 3s made plus Caitlin controls the ball distribution with more opportunities to shoot and pass the ball, cause she’s a point shooting guard overall their performances are very close with neither being dominant

TIME OUT!! Reese is a "super disruptive player"??? She is 43rd in blocked shots. Clark is 16th. Reese jumps and moves like a gazelle. A gazelle that has a lion on it's back. How many of her offensive rebounds come off of the 40% of her lay ups she misses?

What I have learned from Jason is that Curry should win MVP every year. He didn't spend much time discussing the impact both players are having on their team. He didn't discuss the impact of turnovers and extra possessions on winning vs losing. Instead, he focused on how unique of a prospect Caitlin is.

Winning Rookie of the Year should be based on results for the entire season. Not since June, but since May 14, 2024. By that standard Angel is the runaway favorite. Caitlin has been too inconsistent to win rookie of the year. You can't give an award based on how much responsibility you think a player has, or how much of an engine you think that player is. What are the results??? Did they produce well in May? June? July? Who is turning the ball over? Which rookie was on the worst team? Which rookie is playing well on both ends of the floor? Being an offensive engine doesn't matter if the team's offense hasn't improved much since last year, or if the defense is worse because of you. Angel is ROTY based on results, not popularity.

your analysis seems really weird, because if you watch the games, clark get carried by her team until the 4th, where she can take over with her shooting. Reese is everything to the team, defense and offense, giving them second chance points with rebounds and now opening up her shooting.

I think everyone knows CC should win ROTY. I think everyone also knows why she won’t. It’s like giving Myles Garrett DPOY over TJ Watt. It doesn’t make sense, the numbers and impact don’t jive but we all know exactly why they’re doing it.

Ответить
@andref9663
@andref9663 - 12.07.2024 19:46

It should not matter if Caitlin is an offensive engine 🙄. Winning rookie of the year should be based on impact. If the Fever offense has greatly improved since 2023, give it to Caitlin. If she is impacting winning, give it to Caitlin. If Angel Reese is impacting winning the most and playing better defense, give it to Angel. The offensive engine stuff is very biased. Offensive engines don't always win MVPs or rookie of the year, efficient overall basketball does.
