Yeah and some drivers can’t adapt the way they brake and turn corners how they’ve done all their lives. The way that made them great. Don’t even have to say the examples 😅

Many drivers can't deal with oversteer and prefer understeer if they can't get that perfect balance. The problem with understeer is it puts training wheels on the car, limiting its performance. A car with oversteer is inherently unstable, but does not place any artificial limits on what the driver can do.

where can we get that sim setup?

Driving an F1 car in a sim actually helped me realize how big of a deal a preference to understeer or oversteer is.

I liked a car that was truly on the neutral side in term of balance but more towards the understeery side. I also tried very understeery setups and I was doing well.

But the moment I tried oversteery setups, I had no confidence in the rear, I always felt that I was going to spin, that rear was going to give up on me, especially on fast corners.

So now when I'm hearing that this or that driver is not performing well because he doesn't have confidence in the car, I understand it.

I would like to know what Andretti's drivers would prefer.

I would sooooo love to see all or at least most of the grid sorted by oversteer or understeer. Or even admitting being unsure or seeing a little of each. Of course, the impression of them can depend on what cars they've had to drive. I remember there was a video where some of them picked. I know Carlos is more understeer than Charles. And, obviously Checo would seem to be on the understeer side.

Checo's fans say that he has a different car and that's why Checo had problems last season. The reality is that the car is not different, the driving style is different, and to compensate for an oversteering car you have to make a different setup, and adapt to the handling. I'm not saying this is the only factor in Checo's performance, but it is the most important. I would like him to adapt faster next season and not lose so many points, in the end despite what many say he is a great driver.

I'd much rather hear an explanation of why GM Andretti wouldn't be competitive. Also, how has F1 not taken over the world with it's future seeing machine? For real though, my interest in the sport took a huge hit from that. Just a real sour taste...

Lewis Likes Oversteer, watch 2007 onboards

Danny Ric is quoted as saying Hulkenberg and Max both have very similar ways of setting up the car and driving styles which goes against what Palmer suggests here. The Haas lacked rear downforce last year which Nico could use to his advantage over 1 lap as we often saw.

I dont necessarily agree with the analysis. I think you're mistaking max's love of Front Grip for oversteer. I don't see it oversteer on his or checos car - but the timing and pull of the front is strong. That's probably what drivers struggle with the most as opposed to loosing the rear, against Max. Just my thoughts

Understeer is the worst feeling, I can’t imagine why anyone would prefer it. It feels like grinding gears.
