Don't be lazy, make your own. Use orange juice instead of water and use a sprinkle of cinnamon.
ОтветитьMy wife has been making cranberry sauce now for years, first time she saw how to do it and tried it she said this is easy, we have never looked back since
ОтветитьOCEANSPRAY JELLIED, ALL the WAY!
ОтветитьI made some the other day with plenty of Grand Marnier and Chambord, just for fun. (And sugar free orange marmalade because I'm diabetic.) It turned out great, except for all the alcohol cooking out of it. Lol
Forgot to add: the only sweetness came from the sugar free marmalade and about a cup of sugar free pomegranate cranberry juice that I used instead of water. The cranberry sauce turned out more on the tart side, but wasn't too tart; it was just sweet enough.
Having Oceanspray cranberry sauce is just as important as having Whitelily flour for dumplings at Thanksgiving, 🦃
ОтветитьThe only GOOD cranberry sauce is the fresh. I also cook with orange juice instead of water, and put a cinnamon stick in it while cooking. Gives a great different taste, yet not too overpowering. I also use apple juice too.
ОтветитьBefore watching this I know he’s going to pick a brand that isn’t available anywhere near me.
Edited to add: I was right! 😅
I buy Ocean Spray whole berry Cranberry sauce because I like some whole berries and it’s just easier because I’m alone and don’t cook from scratch anymore 😕. But does America’s Test Kitchen have a good made from scratch cranberry sauce recipe they’d like to share? 😊
ОтветитьI’m surprised that you didn’t have the ocean spray whole cranberry in the test taste. I fooled my brother-in-law for years that the ocean spray whole cranberry was homemade for years. He said he only would eat homemade.
ОтветитьI like the jellied kind. Its a nostalgia thing from my 1960s childhood.
ОтветитьOcean spray has a whole berry sauce that i like!!!
ОтветитьThey are being rather snooty. As you know they always believe they make the very best of everything....NOT.
ОтветитьI grew up on Ocean Spray, like everyone else, but I prefer homemade. Simple, easy, cheap and tastes a heckuva lot better!
ОтветитьOceanspray cooled in the fridge! It's just not the holidays without it.
ОтветитьI hated whole berry when I was a kid. I love both now.
ОтветитьThe only ones without high fructose corn syrup are the best. Any?
ОтветитьOcean Spray for the WIN! I eat that stuff on a Turkey Sandwich with Cream Cheese! So Good!
ОтветитьHomemade cranberry sauce without alcohol is the BEST!!! NO JELLIED CRANBERRY SAUCE!!! Yuck!!!
ОтветитьI love it
ОтветитьYou can be too educated. Ocean Spray is KING!
ОтветитьNot a valid test. Test whole-berry in all four, or jellied in all four. Ocean Spray whole berry is one of the best around. I love Ocean Spray, but I also make my own by running fresh berries through the food processor, and then mixing the raw processed berries with orange marmalade. Nice and TART!
ОтветитьLook at those ridiculous faces they’re making while they’re testing. Come on stop being so precious! Lots of people like canned cranberry sauce. This is why some foodies are such douche bags.
ОтветитьThe canned jelly is childhood memories. Nothing ever compares to it.
ОтветитьI Always buy Ocean Spray. One year they were all out so I got another brand. It was terrible. Ocean Spray by far the best.
ОтветитьPeople outside the U.S. and Canada think we're weird for eating cranberry sauce. 29% of people who eat it don't like it.
ОтветитьI my own whole berry relish with no orange (I gew up with deserts including orange peel — so I dislike orange unless it is an orange desert) while my husband goes with the jelly, of course Ocean Spray. We didn’t grow up here, but the first Thanksgiving we had made us love the cranberry relish (for me almost more than the turkey itself…). I have to have the tartness and less sweet, which is the reason for making my own.
ОтветитьOceanspray, the only way to go.
ОтветитьMust be nice to have Gran Marnier...way to go snobs!!!
ОтветитьOf all the dishes on the Thanksgiving table, cranberry sauce has got to be the easiest to make by far. So many suckers out there!
ОтветитьOcean Spray all the way for me!!!
ОтветитьOne year my daughter (then late teens) was “ranting” about the jellied canned cranberry sauce. Lol, I bought ocean spray, heated it up added a handful of real cranberries (you could buy them in small containers) a bit more sugar & I think some dried lemon zest. I put it in a pretty bowel & buried the can in the bottom of the garbage. She never knew the difference 🤣
ОтветитьNo jellied of any kind.. ocean spray whole berry for me.
ОтветитьOcean Spray Cranberry Jelly is my jam. I eat it throughout the year with roasted chicken and roasted turkey. It amazing!
ОтветитьIn a nod to growing up in the 60's and 70's, we always put out a can of the Ocean Spray, uncut in a serving dish. I like the sound when it falls out of the can. It's a family joke and no one never eats it but it does bring back memories. I always make my own; cranberries, sugar and orange juice. To simple not to make it. I never thought of Grand Marnier so I'm going to try it. Thanks Jack!!
ОтветитьThumbnail so misleading.. thought you were going to review the 2 Williams-Sonoma brands in picture. By the way I love them both.
ОтветитьRibbed for your pleasure
ОтветитьI make my own cranberry sauce: cranberries, water, Splenda, plus the zest and juice of one orange.
ОтветитьI have made multiple recipes and none ever compare to ocean spray jellied cranberry sauce. Not down with the homemade stuff.
Ответить👍👍👍👍👍💖💖💖💕💕💕♥️♥️💓💓💯💯🇮🇳👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьOceanspray for the Win.
ОтветитьGrowing up, my Mom made EVERYTHING from scratch. Cranberrysauce, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, pumpkin pies, everything. For the stuffing, I remember tearing up slices of white bread to let them get stale overnight. The cranberries were from fresh berries, boiled for about an hour, strained through a collender, don't forget the sugar. That happened once. The turkey was about a 27 lb. bird that started abou 6 am. My dad liked his turkey done. We ate about 4 pm. I never knew turkey could be moist until I had it at a friends house. But I digress. My Mom "discovered" Oceanspray canned cranberry sauce, StoveTop stuffing mix, Hunts Turkey Gravy, Mrs. Smith's Pumpkin Pies. Thanksgiving was never the same. That is for us kids and Dad, everything was just still perfect. For my Mom, Thanksgiving went from a 13 hour cooking marathon, to a 4 hour leisurely jog.
P.S. I still like Oceanspray cranberry sauce as its own sidedish anytime of the year.
Big fan of the ultra affordable OceanSpray whole berry sauce.
Ответитьjellied or whole -- cranberry sauce is handy when i want to make some cranberry yogurt !
ОтветитьNow I know why its upside down
ОтветитьIt's unfortunate that the winning whole berry cranberry sauce is not available in stores and costs a fortune to ship even on Amazon. Leave it to ATK to recommend a product that's probably only available in one farmer's market in New England. I guess I'll have to settle for the old Ocean Spray.
ОтветитьI notice most of the commenters who like Ocean Spray are basing their preference on nostalgia. Those of whole who like it whole (preferably homemade) go more on taste and texture.
ОтветитьLove them all but my favorite will always be the disks!😂
ОтветитьProbably about 15 years ago, Ocean Spray had a Cran-Raspberry relish and it was absolutely delicious! I haven't seen it since then but I would like to see it on store shelves again.
ОтветитьUsed to work in fancy department stores and sell kitchen and dining wares. Most of the very expensive china sets and patterns and even the silver service wares have a little serving plate and serving spatula specifically FOR canned, jellied cranberry sauce. I always imagined the fanciest Thanksgiving meal with canned cranberry sauce. Why not? It’s terrific
