His record as a Marine is a distinguished career. His record as a Defense Secretary, will state that he was key in removing most of the international terrorists groups. But a lot of folks in this country, were terrorized for ONE ENTIRE SEASON. I remember the Summer of Peaceful Violence very differently from most. We saw mayors and police chiefs bow down to the violent mob. The violent mob was attacking people who did not participate with them in chants. If you removed graffiti (which defacing property is illegal), you could get attacked. They set police cars on fire. They looted and burned buildings. They could NOT distinguish a security guard from a cop, (or an EMT from a cop), and I remember a friend of mine who worked as a security guard got chased by a guy with an axe. He called his supervisor and was specifically told to do his job from his car out of uniform, and that the police were NOT coming.
We had local officials try to close gun stores. (Later on a judge struck that down but we didn't hear about it because of the media blackout.) Every house hold, remembers the Summer of Peaceful Violence as, someone in the house stayed up on fire watch. Because, you did not know if the violent mob was going to come to burn your house down. No one knew what to tell the kids. How to calm them. It was a 9/11 type of a fear in all of us.
And James Mattis DID NOTHING to stop this. The President wanted to place federal troops, so that there would be an armed presence. And to give the military arresting powers to remove the agitators. James Mattis stated publicly, ''I never imagined I'd see the day when a POTUS would use his own military against his own people. It's unconstitutional what he's trying to do.''
So, thanks pal. Your a real piece of work. That will forever tarnish your legacy.
