What better to follow up a 2 and a half hours look at the Sea People? Yes an hour and a half look at Roman Britain incorporating years of footage I have taken all over the island. I am now broken. I'm gonna go crawl under a rock now and write the next investigation into Britain's Early Middle Ages. Oh also I got engaged the other day! Cheers all! If you enjoyed the vid don't forget to like, comment, subscribe and share as it helps the video to be seen and makes the effort worthwhile! Stay safe and catch you all soon.

*The script was researched and written by Eric TenWolde- however some additions were made by myself, including the section on the Antonine Constitution developing into a disaster for the empire, and the Germanic influence in the Roman military by the latter 4th century. These views are my own *

What were the main imports from Britain at these times? I know it said Tin and other metals at the beginning, but was this the case the whole time or did it changed in the middle and end?? Had to be something good for them to fight this hard to keep it.

There's ever increasing evidence that Britain handed the Roman legions their ass in as little as 44 years. There after, the association was commercial, not military, and certainly not occupation.

You mean, when Rome spent 500 years schmoozing the aristocracy of the isles whilst continuously having their asses handed to them by the tribes to the point that they eventually gave Britain up as a lost cause? Ask Channing Tatum how all that worked out.

I'm not entirely certain (as i rely on what i recall) but isnt the first map of the video from the time of the first invasion (by Caesar)?
By Claudius's time, Rome had conquered the all of the iberian peninsula and the kingdom of Pontus was already annexed (so was Thracia and Numidia , i believe). I may be wrong but i think you mixed the 2 invasions on that one.

The Romans were barbarians. Ruthless murderers.

Why do history teachers and others push lies?

The Celtic tribes and others were caring and fair with everyone because they were a family of hardworking, same language people throughout this island.

If you didn't work you died of starvation and cold.

I was born in Rome and I came across this documentary by chance. I started watching it out of curiosity, I thought it was too long. As I watched it I was more and more interested until the end when I was greatly impressed. I can assure you that here in Italy few people know this part of history with the details with which it is told here. This documentary is awesome, excellent work! I hope that someone here in Italy translates the vocal part into Italian, so that it can also be brought to schools. I believe that no one should ever forget their roots. For those who read and are interested in Roman history, I would like to remind you that here in Italy, in addition to the Colosseum and the many other monuments left in Rome and in the rest of Italy (which still deserve a visit!), there is an entire almost intact Roman city , as it was buried by a volcanic eruption in 79AD. I'm talking about Pompeii, which is worth a visit once in a lifetime. Congratulations again from a Roman for the excellent work! I subscribed to your channel and will follow your documentaries with interest. Greetings and congratulations from Rome.

The fierce resistance and successful guerilla tactics of the Caledonian tribes isn't even mentioned here. Its lazy to simply say that Scotland was of little use to the Romans so they didnt bother about it. Typical English pseudo historian.

I DO NOT THINK THAT ROMAN CULTURE WAS ELIMINATED IN THE 4TH AND 5TH CENTURIES, MANY INSTITUTIONS AND INDUSTRIES, VILLAS, AND CUSTOMS REMAINED EVEN IF THEY WERE DEVOLVING. EVEN TODAY ENGLISH STILL REMAINS LARGELY A ROMANCE LANGUAGE. ENGLISH LAW ARCHITECTURE, MEDICINE, EXPLORATION, ETC. ALL HAD A REBOUND STARTING IN THE 17TH AND 18 CENTURIES AS CAN BE SEEN IN MANY PLACES. HAVE A LOOK AT LIVERPOOL AND ONE MIGHT THINK THAT THIS IS PART OF IMPERIAL ROME.
