Unpopular opinion: Illusive Man was the coolest character of the franchise.

The Illusive man might have had extreme measures, but he was in a way right about many things. He put humanity first where no one else did.

His idea to control the reapers was also right. Only if in the right hands which shepard was the right hands. Shepard would use the reapers to rebuild everything then after all that he would send the reapers into a blackhole to finish up so reapers ends up in no ones hands. Control ending is the TRUE Destroy ending.

Cerberus and The Illusive Man deserved better than what was given to them in the third game.

Dear TiM, we miss you more than you will ever know. I miss the easy days of working for Cerberus, putting together the best team that the Galaxy had ever seen. I miss fighting the good fight, saving Garrus and re-uniting with Wrex and Tali and Liara. I miss the days of good games, and moments like watching the new Normandy launch, or surviving the Suicide Mission through the Omega IV Relay. There is a dream that was Mass Effect, and you were a big part of it. I wish I could have saved you, like you saved us.

That moment when The Illusive Man was proven right the whole time, just couldn't "physically" do it because it was under the Reapers control.

most mysterious character

I love this piece so much, one of my all-time favourites. So futuristic and cold, yet strangely meditative and comforting. For some reason, the first thing that comes to mind is TIM nonchalantly adjusting his blazer before sitting down and telling Shepard "Miranda and Jacob will brief you" with that hint of pride in his voice, putting everything into place to make Shepard feel like they're in good hands even though he knows his own intentions aren't so pure.

To be completely honest, if you were to tell me that the afterlife consists of just sitting in TIM's chair, smoking and drinking bourbon on the rocks while gazing at that burning sun for all eternity with this playing in the background, I'd be totally fine with that.

Not a big fan of TIM. I just thought he was power hungry and crazy. But his office and soundtrack is nice enough. Very hypnotizing music. He was too lost, indoctrinated, stupid, egocentric and selfish. Cerberus was a very corrupt and an unethical organization. Wealth doesn’t give you a free pass on doing everything. No excuse for their torture and abuse methods. Better to just end them permanently. TIM was just a narcissistic lying delusional and a schizophrenic ruthless fool with not humanity’s best interests at heart.

Illusive Man was a hero who just didnt have the willpower resist the Reapers.. But his heart was in the right place.

Even from this theme you can already know that the Illusive Man isn't a total good guy. He may have had good intentions and goals but his methods of achieving them are too costly and especially in ME3, where he ultimately succumbs to the indoctrination.
