I want one of these, but sculpted a bit to look like a small pocket revolver, only big.

when i was growing up in the uk late 50s our comics were largely based on war stories.i remember one series about the kenyan emergency where district officers game wardens police and military all requested the reissue of the .455 webley as the replacement the enfield and webley .38 had a very weak proprietary cartridge and also civillians issued with a variety of .380 or 9mm self loaders all said against sudden attacks by maumau armed with machetes they just wouldnt knock them down.i found out later from a lady who was in kenya at the time this was true.most of the farmers etc carried large bore shotguns or high powered rifles but as personal protection wanted .45 caliber at least handguns.she said being a colonial based administration fortunately there was a lot of .455 webleys in store as theyd been in use until quite recently as due to the war like the smle rifle they were very low on the priority list to be issued enfield mk 4s or the new service revolver.

Mae's disdain for the 1873 SAA as a fighting handgun is shared by no less than Jeff Cooper. As a Marine officer, he foolishly carried a personal 1873 into combat during WWII. After his first gunfight, he switched to a 1911.

With the trigger so long and the trigger guard so big , two fingers to pull the trigger seems the way to go . As the Filipino gentleman pointed out . Maybe a two hand hold using both trigger fingers . The options are there if you can`t out run the dude . [ Moro ]

Adrenaline is an amazing thing guys.
Someone running at you with a two foot stabby , slashy thing
Will motivate you to pull that trigger. I have a Moro blade from this period in history and it would still easily remove an arm or head. The balance is absolute perfection.

I love how even back 150 years ago people were saying "it just went off" and "I have TONS of experience so its NOT my fault". Yeah it is you pulled the trigger on accident you morons.

Back in the 1870's it was "The Colt just went off!" 30 years ago when police departments were mass issuing Glocks for the first time "Those damn Glocks just went off!" and when Serpa or other paddle release holsters came out "The holster is the problem" and of course my favorite "The BAD lever is DANGEROUS because a really skilled and experienced shooter had an ND with it".

Keep your finger straight and out of the trigger guard until you are ready to fire and none of those things happen. Funny how that works no touch bang switch= no bang happen.

Forty-some years ago I came close to purchasing an "Alaskan" Model .45 I espied in a Brevard, N.C antique shop. Came back a week ago later to find the shop closed as the owner had committed suicide with it, likely the last casualty inflicted by this model revolver.

I can't really blame the U.S. soldiers and Phillipine Constabulary who wanted ANY kind of .45 Colt revolver instead of a .38 Colt calibered 1898 or 99 swing cylinder.
True the .38 Colt had light recoil and was undoubtedly a little faster to fire and reload.
All things that were perfect for a range or "games" gun/cartridge combo.
But the Army issue .45 Colt, either in models 1873, 1878, or 1902, fired a cartridge whos bullet alone weighed almost as much as the entire .38 Colt cartridge.
And at a decent velocity, too, for the black powder era.
All of which equates to a better combat cartridge that just simply needs a better designed and a much stronger and more reliable delivery vehicle.
