Nice one Adam! Although - if I were going to set up the system, I most likely wouldn't mount the knife first hahaha .... in case I cut my hand or arm open while forgetting that the blade is exposed while I'm moving my arm etc around. Nice vid!!!

You can't do the paper test well?

Anybody can do the paper test. You hold the paper and slice it. If you're not doing it well, then your knife is not sharp.

For the rod to stay up: put a little hook on the wood base, place the rod through a rubber band, and then the band onto the hook.

counterweight on the end of the rod holding the stone... so it automatically sends the stone to the high position while you spin the blade.

You do this things every an the whole day and it looks very confused. You put one spring to the false side and after the videocut it is on the right side. It is magic.

Between arthritis and hand shake I would like to have one of those systems, yet anything that holds a blade fixed in front of me runs the risk of me getting cut on it. War stories: Anyone ever get cut while using one of those systems. Thanks Adam, Sir, thumbs up!

To hold that stone up and out of the way, you could try a weight at the end to hold it up

Oh to have a shop where you can knock out your own parts. Adam should sell the parts as an upgrade.

A Magnets should hold that stone apparatus up above there just fine...Great Video Adam, cheers!

You should really learn how to use the KME properly.

I got an aftermarket knob from Amazon that fits onto the end of my KME, but I think yours on top is an even better placement for a knob

Put a small hook in the base you can swing down the backside of the stick and loop it in

Good stuff, I'm sure it works fine but it looks a bit wobbly, if you like this form factor you might want to look into Hapstone or TSProf for similar but more solid / higher quality systems, can also come with nice upgrades out of the box (multiple clamps, rotating clamp module, fine-tuning adapter, spring-assisted stopper rings, digital angle gauge etc).

one thing you might add to your knife sharpening technique is a black magic marker. Run a black line along the knife edge as a guide to edge removal. It's a quick and dirty way to make sure you're removing material evenly.

Regarding the guide rod being held up, out of the way.....
Insert a piece of metal in the know on the stone cradle and add an arm to the height adjuster with a magnet.
That's my 2 cents. Let me know what you think.

Sometimes I have to adapt whatever to make it perfect for me.

How about a counterweight attached to the opposite end of the shaft to make the resting position one which keeps the blade out of the way ?

Interesting tool, but I prefer my TS Prof that my wife gave me. If you want a better kit than this, and not as expensive as the TS Prof, check out Wicked Edge.

Heat power gravity power and air power

We still don't know who keeps putting lithium on spring and air powered tools and machines

Pollution takes lives

It's healthier for us to return to the 100 year old compressed air machines

Revive the stuff we still need today

Teflon a petroleum product vs the supplied wood handle? Not sure I would make that choice for mass production. Also the wood handle with a pistol grip as designed allows you to index the device consistently. I just bought one of these and they have modified it so that rod does not slide out. I will let you know if I have any other insights. Thanks for the video.

My suggestion would be to put a hook facing down opposite the knife side so that when you're finished with the stone you can place the rod into an upright position.

Hi there, why not add a weight to the fare end of the diamond stone holder? So it will just „tip the scale“ and lift the stone? Cheers from Germany ;-)

I have the cheapest version of that DMT sharpener, and it's ridiculous. It's hard to keep the stones wet and sharpening one side at a time is going to give a lop-sided result. Get yourself an Arkansas tri-hone: they work much better.

Listen.. BETTER YOURSELF. LEARN NEW SKILLS. don’t mess around with all this junk unless you are selling your sharpening services.

get you a nice stone or manufactured diamond sharpening stone that will bring a blade to a good edge without having to use 10 different stones. Practice holding the knife at a steady angle and get good with it. One week of messing around and you’ll be good enough to bring an edge to razor, shave your arm hair, sharp. All this stuff is silly for most.

counter weight the rod, thread it and add a longer heavy section to the end that wil in turn allow it to lift the stones clear.

Spyderco Sharpmaker you'd have a rasor edge on the blade in the time it takes to assemble the one you have ;)
